OC to 5ghz. https://imgur.com/0kmXtAP - temp at kinda idle, i am watching stream/ talking on VOIP. https://imgur.com/2yqWT3m -temp while running cinebench at 100% load, evga clc 280 cannot run my cpu at 5ghz with Prime95 w/ small FFT, without hitting thremal max, though it will take up to 10 minutes or so. Thats a unrealistic load in any case scenario anyways, every other benchmark is passed with flying colors.

my 280 clc runs my 9900k at 5.5 ghz just fine direct die cooled it also ran 5.3ghz before the delid just fine. i added more fans for push pull. the water temp will hit aroun 34c gaming sometimes, but its does just fine.

it will not work with the stock standoffs for the CLC280. I had to rig my own from the hardware store. I dont personally recommend this because you can over tighten and crack the die. I learned the hard way.

Dang .. Thank you for sharing your painful experience on cracking the die. Hopefully it will help other avoid the same fate

I agree it sucks hear you cracked the die on the I9-9900K. The CLC-280 has the power to cool a chip like that but if you are going to the hardware store to build stand offs for it then it's probably best to avoid unless you are comfortable with that. Hopefully EVGA will be looking at the stand off and seeing how they can change it to add better support.

I have used the clc280 for my 9900k on the Z390 Dark. It works great. i have benched to 5.3 MHz too. I upgraded to the clc360 but the temps are the same. Here is a pic of the rear, everyone is concerned about.
