hello, could you tell me, does SC17 has overheating issue?
how many years is it works without any issues?

as example: i have macbook pro 15 for last 7 years, my battery dies 4 times and ssd dies 1 time. no overheating problems, no burning motherboard or videochip but yes it hot as hell.

someone tells me that SC17 will broke cuz of overheating in 1-2 years of use.
is it true?

it's several years old by now, and I don't think they make them any more. there might be some old stock somewhere or if buying used, but I'm not sure I'd recommend buying it unless you can get a really good deal due to it's age. EVGA doesn't make laptops anymore either, so you could read something into that as well.

I haven't had one, so I can't give any first hand reports of how relayable they are.

As an owner of a SC17 1070, I would recommend that you look at other options.

My SC 17 has been problem-free.  The thermals are good.  Much better than some other laptops I have owned.  It isn't terribly loud.  I think it is well made.
But, I think that there are probably better options.  These laptops are discontinued, the laptop has a problem that causes the batteries to be discharged quickly when the laptop is not being used and not plugged in, some people have had issues with chargers and screens breaking, and quite a few people have had problems with the batteries failing, swelling, and damaging their laptop.
I took the battery out of my SC 17 and am using it plugged-in only.  I don't want to risk the battery destroying my SC 17.

It's a good laptop, it's very tweakable, it's easy to work on, but it has problems.  Since it is so old, and since I think that it is unlikely to last as long as you are hoping for, I can't recommend it to you.

I know that this is an old thread, but first of all, most if not all gaming laptops will freeze or thermal throttle in my experience.  Even today any gaming laptop review will tell you that running on the battery is abysmal.  My SC17 has worked great since the day I got it.  It runs at 4GHZ all the time and with the Fan Boost Utility, it gets hot but doesn't lock up like other gaming laptops I've used.  I would rate the SC17 that I have one of the best all-around Laptops that I ever owned.  The screen is amazing and my only regret is that it didn't have an 8 series CPU and will not run windows 11.  But I plan to use it until windows 10 is obsolete.  Sorry other people have had problems with it.
