i have a evga rtx 2080 ti xc ultra i got from bstock and warranty has ended. i have had no issues and its a beast of a card but looking at the rtx 3070 ti xc ultra for a back up card. my question is the 3070 ti xc ultra comparable to the 2080 ti xc ultra.

Just a standard 3070 is nearly equal to the 2080Ti so the 3070Ti should be faster. It would depend on the game of course as to which is the fastest but unless you have an FPS counter on the screen or running a benchmark it's not something you would notice while playing a game.

This also depends on the monitor resolution the game is running at.

yeah the 3070 is better at 1440p & higher resolutions ... plus it's newer and warrantied.
I'd switch over to use the 3070 and either sell or keep for backup- the 2080 ti

I just got rid of my 2080 super hybrid for what I bought it new. I'd recommend getting the new card. I'm no expert but I from what I've seen the performance difference will be negligible at best.

Pros: Updated warranty, newer architecture, driver support, etc.
Cons: You're not really gaining on performance (right now), who knows if they can squeeze and extra 5-10% out of it with future updates.
