g3/g6 cables listed as compatible, we sure?

i switched from a busted 850 g3 to a 850 g6, was told cables are interchangeable however psu connector is different
pinout is the same and fits, but one is missing a slot. these are vga cables

    you can still get the same result by having ground wired to another point, just wanted to know if any evga representative is sure
    the same sleeved cables for g3 are even sold for g6 model (which is non sleeved) https://www.evga.com/prod...aspx?pn=101-CK-0850-B9
