For those who decided to do the step up program: how are you progressing?
I've just accepted the reality that I won't get my purchase email until probably next year some time, so I bought a 2070 Super from Newegg and will just go the step up route. I'm hoping that that will get me a card at least a little sooner. Specifically I'm asking about the 3080 FTW3 step ups.

At least in the US, we're all hoping this week's drop will be bigger than the last couple of weeks giving people hope the line is moving faster than when it started (I feel for EU; doesn't look like they moved at all).  That's all we can do.  I do wonder how many that have received their cards are back on the forum now.

Its looking to be no less than 4 weeks from the time you put in for the step up till 2nd email arrives, could possibly be sooner when manufacturing ramps up and also when the AMD 6000 series comes out.

Been in step up since  sep 17th @ 8am CST. Feels bad man:( I have a 2080ti though so it's not like I'm not already maxing everything out with good frames, but I really want to play with the 3080

Well, 4 weeks would be way faster than I'll be getting a purchase email...

Same... although it was Sep 24th and 2080 Super, but nothing yet.  Hoping this week's stock is a larger one, but not holding my breath as of this point.

So are they splitting stock between step up queue and email purchase queue?

I wish I knew... I don't think anyone can answer that here, other than eVGA.  I'd like to think they would split it up, but I would imagine that new sales are a higher priority vs. "exchanges", just from a business POV.

Probably a 6 months to 1 year wait for stepup, if you start it now...

Lol, that doesn't even sound remotely reasonable.
If in the next 3-4 months you still can't just buy a card on any given day/time, we have a much bigger problem on our hands than step up wait time.

Yes. Every large shipment has allocation for Step-Ups, albeit small, and the remaining majority goes to e-mail notification queue purchases (aka retail).  It was either Jacob or one of the MODs that confirmed that.

If you look at the rate EVGA is processing step-ups in the stepup forum, you'll see that the 6 months rate is reasonable. Factoring in people who are signed up but not in the forum. Then the holiday season is around the corner... 6 months to a year is reasonable for someone who signs up today...

so you think EVGA is going to pull thousands of FTW3 out of their butt 0and give them out just for step up folks? they haven't even gone through the first hour of day one stepup requests.

DO we need a betting pool?

I guess it is possible... but makes me think that something is really wrong if it takes 6 months to fulfill all SU's. Even if SU's are only getting 10% of new stock, how many people, with brand new cards, are even eligible to start with.  90Days post purchase to qualify in the first place... when most people have been hanging on to whatever they have waiting for the new 3000's.  I gotta believe that the new purchase queue is massive in comparison to the SU queue.  eVGA will also not want to wait a long time to get all of those 90 Day old cards back for possible resell.  Even if it is a small amount of new stock... I think SU's will go quickly... certainly less than 6 months.

That's just folks that submitted their info on SU, that are on thw forum, probably only 30% of all SUs....

Those are just 3080s though... not 3090s... and if it is only 30% as per your suggestion, then we are only talking about 600 or so once you eliminate the duplicates and the spaces... I'd like to think they have 1000's coming in over the course of the next few weeks... let along 6 months from now.

30% is just a number I pulled out of my butt, it could be lower... at the rate it's moving, it ain't looking too good for anyone that wants to join the wait now.

Noted... it will be interesting to see for certain how quickly we go... unlike some, 2080 Ti or Super, seems like it will be fine for a while... but certainly looking to put my hands on a 3080/90.

Pretty sure you’ll have a decent amount of people jump ship from this list to try to be top of the pack for the 3070 release. So there may be a bump up for folks on the 3080 list come the end of the month.

Agreed.... I think 70/80's will be the hardest hit from a SU POV.  At the end of the day however, it is all a guess, as we still don't know how many are coming in or how many will be allocated to SU at all.

can't jump ship if you're passed the return period for your 20x0. The people who are going to jump ship from the 3080 will be those looking to make a new purchase.

That's a great point.  Those that jump ship = less people to SU, which is a good thing for those that remain.

Many people on the 3080 list purchased in September. So they have plenty of time left to swap over.

I did the step up program for 3080 on the 17th. 9:20 am est. Oct 5 I got notification that I was on step 2. On Oct 6th I was approved, paid, and sent out my gpu. Evga received it on the 9th and sent mine out later that day. It's due to show up tomorrow.

Nice! One example isn't enough, but it sounds like step ups are running roughly 3-4 weeks based on that?
