Can someone provide at least a hint towards a tentative date that the Kingpin Edition of the RTX 2080 Ti will be available? I've got 38 days left on my step up and would really like to use that to get one.

Thanks in advance.

    1. Nobody in the forums is going to have more info than EVGA has put out, so no
    2. They haven't been allowing step up to better versions of the same card, many have tried to trade up from the lower tiers to the FTW3 and been told no

In the stream today jacob mentioned something along the line of 45 days, however no step will be allowed to that card.

Brilliant. A step up program with no step up path. LOL.

Maybe read about the program???: www.evga.com/support/stepup

Step up has never been for top tier cards. It so when someone buys a card and a new generation is released, you can move to a new generation. Not so you can play trade up because of buying a lower tier card.

Also, you can only step up once, not repeatedly. You may not have known that either, but now that you have the link, you can read all about the awesome program that no other company offers.

Weird, I thought a RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Uber K-Rad Extreme SuPEr E133t Snobunny Edition or whatever it is that I paid $1500 for was a high end card. I really need to start paying more attention.

It is a high end card, but you didn’t get it through step up, so there is that.

Moved your thread to the step-up section, since the post was about stepping up.

I didn't know that. I've never stepped up but that's good to know. It's weird, but despite trying to patronize me and addressing me like I'm an ant I still can detect that somewhere in there you just want a big hug from me.

Just out of curiosity - why is there a countdown timer for how many days are left for stepping up if there is nothing to step up to? Anyways, I'll read about the program a little closer and stop asking stupid questions. I suppose it sounded obvious - "step up" - how complicated can it be? So far, thanks to you I've learned that you can only step up once. More than once it becomes the Step Off program. I've also learned that it never applies to the flagship products because they are the flagship products... err.. well... I mean - they are not as good as the kingpin stuff but come on - we can't have people stepping up to that or it will become the Step Back program.

I'm just going to fly to Taiwan and break into Tin's workshop and leave my FTW3 and an IOU on his bench. I'm sure a prototype or something has to be laying around. Maybe even something better! ;-)

Almost 5 years ago, I made the same assumption about that I could step up from the 780ti Classified to the 780ti K|ngp|n Edition, and made the comment that I would just use the Step-up program.  When someone provided me the information, I went and read about the program and ground it super useful, rather than making a snide comment after being informed that I couldn't use the program how I wanted to use it.

If you had bought a 2070, you could step up to a 2080 or 2080ti, but as the program states, you are only moving up to a reference specification PCB, not an upgraded PCB or a "high end" card.  Heck, even the reference 2080ti is a high end card.

And free hugs are always great.  The world needs more of them.

*editing in a new comment* . There is in case NVidia launched a 2180ti, or 3080ti right now.. you would have ** days left to upgrade to it.  A LOT of people bought 1080ti's in August knowing a 2070/2080 were getting ready to launch.  When the 2080ti Launched, they used the full cost of their 1080ti toward the upgrade to the 2080ti.  Many people even used their 1080ti to swap for the 2080 for very few charges.

No, I understand that now the program is designed more for people that purchase a card knowing that there may be a high probability Nvidia is going to release a new family. It is good for Evga and good for the consumer. Evga doesn't lose out on sales as  the next-gen product release from nvidia has people sitting on their wallets and the consumer can satisify their "now cravings" without fear of not being able to get the next gen that they normally would've held out on.

All this talk about the Step Up program is making my internal Jack Black go crazy:

I am still surprised that EVGA even offers it, after being around for 5 years.  I have used the step up once when the 1080ti was released, and it is so beneficial for protection to the buyer.  I just don't see how EVGA makes money off of it.
