Hot Deals section rules

The Rules Have Changed Item in Red Below are new (3 days ago that is)

All Newegg, Tiger Direct, and Amazon deals must be posted in their appropriate stickies. All other deals go in the regular section of Hot Deals. If these rules are not followed, then a Moderator, at their own discretion, can either move the thread, or lock it. Also, off topic posts will be deleted. Depending on the situation, and their judgement. If the rule is continually broken, then that member may (at the discretion of the Moderator), get a warning. After warnings there may be bans issued.

*State the name of the product or products you are posting about.*

*State the price, discount, rebate, etc.*

*Specifying the region it's in is "optional". Try to state it if you can.*

*A link is required for every deal posted.*

*All threads made after this sticky is posted, that are not in the correct section, will be handled as stated above. There are too many to have to move that are already there. In other words, "starting now".

I seen that. Would of been better to just post a format to use for the topic title.

[vendor] product, price, rebate [region]

I wonder if they would make a new anti discussion sticky topic, if members posted 5-10 deals from BestBuy.

You cannot use the Rules listed in Delirious' sticky from 2009 in a Thread Sticky because you cannot Put the Info in the Topic Title as stated in Delirious' sticky.
___________________________________________________________________________
Please remember to post all your hot deals in this forum and try to follow this simple format.

Put the product name, location and price in the title and say if there is a rebate involved or not. The same info can be included in the post as well as a link to the deal and any special conditions necessary to get that deal.

Like one of my Older Threads (Not Post)
Hot Deal On the EVGA Z10 Gaming Keyboard over on Amazon (Brown and Blue) $50 (ENDED)
or
Hot Deal On The EVGA Hybrid Kits over on Amazon (SC & FTW3) $60
Also XrayMan Lock this Thread even as it is still going on (Locking for not following the rules for Amazon deals)
4 weeks ago when I created the Thread Before the Amazon Sticky was even Created.
XrayMan https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2853164
" I tried to move an Amazon thread to the Amazon sticky, and the Amazon sticky disappeared. I'm like huh?"
The Sticky was Created and I even Posted in it (Still No Rules Posted on the Forum for Thread Sticky) and in Error the Amazon Thread Sticky was Deleted. So XrayMan Locked my Thread(s)
Hot Deal for the EVGA 400-HY-5698-B1 GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid Water Block Cooler $59.99 is Still Active.

Does evga not want the hot deals section to be useful to the community. Being able to see all the deals at a glance and be able to comment on them, that would be useful to the community.

It shows pending on My Rewards page. Just too bad evga customer service refuses to lift a finger to help with the previous 3 Affiliate rewards. A simple mistake and get ZERO help from customer service to fix it.

*update*

EVGA customer service came though and helped me with my Affiliate rewards problem.

I think it should be ok to comment on a particular deal. It say's "please limit comments to links to keep the area clean". Maybe it should say: "Please limit comments to a certain deal that has already been posted". I'll request this.

Do you know why evga is so against having every hot deal in it's own thread. That would allow members to comment on each deal, if they wanted. We could see all the deals at a glance.

If EVGA switches it to allow members to comment in the consolidate retailers sticky's, it would get confusing, once a new deal is posted. We still couldn't see the deals at a glance.

  • Each deal in it own thread = helpful to the community
  • Being able to comment on each deal = helpful to the community
  • Consolidating select retailers = not helpful to the community, we can't see all the deals at a glance or comment on them

The stickies are the one's that are mainly posted the most often. Others are in the regular section, because they are like miscellaneous. We may even add Evga.com (Evga store) to the sticky section. So the main ones would be Newegg, TD, Amazon, and Evga sales.

The current Hot Deals section is a ghost town for member activity. It's easy to see why, it's not convenient for members to see the deals at a glance. Digging through sticky thread makes it not worth looking at, when you can visit a number of other forums/websites that make it way more convenient.

Easy to see deals at a glance
https://slickdeals.net/
https://old.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/
https://linustechtips.com/main/forum/69-hot-deals/
https://www.overclock.net/forum/327-online-deals/
You see a deal that interests you, you can click the link to read more about it (if the user posted more info), you can also see what other members might have to say about the product too. Who knows why evga can't see that as a good thing.

Out of those 4 sites, seems like Reddit one is the easiest to see, and navigate. So, putting a certain hardware, software, etc. in one thread is what you think would be easier? (EX: CPU's, Ram, Anti-Virus software, etc.). Just have the Hot Deals section rules as stickies?

I agree, Reddit is one of the easiest to see the deals at a glance. It has all the important information in the title. You can just scroll down to see the deals quickly. I would say that is convenient.

The only sticky's i would have are these ones and lock them:
  • EVGA Authorized Retailers
  • EVGA Ebay Store Page (new one)
  • Hot Deals Section Rules

Every new Hot Deal posted would be in it's own topic, long as members follow the section rules and refrain from going overboard posting deals. I think that would improve the Hot Deals section and hopefully cause more members to be active in it.

I think it would be better not to separate the sections by store, but rather by product.
Having so many threads like posted by Msim mixes software with hardware, PSUs with GPUs and all that mixed up together.
I think a better way is to have separate sections for GPU deals, CPU deals, motherboard deals, game deals, production software deals, antivirus deals. Then a section for misc. hardware like keyboards, mice, sound cards, printers....
If I am looking for a GPU, I don't want to hunt through GPU, CPU and others I do not care about.

You can have sections and sub-sections.
Need hardware, click that section, need a GPU, go to that sub-section. Kind of like this forum is broken down.
Do the same with software.
Then maybe even other sections for cameras, car radios, home audio, guitars and amps, all under a Misc. header.
Many of us on here are into all kinds of things.

Per the OP, I agree with doing away with the stickies for the retailers. The stickies consume practically the first page on a phone. I want to only see the most recent threads someone made or commented on below the rules stickied. Format them however you want with your rules, but that's what I'd like to see. Sure, keep EVGA's hot deals but that's it.

The Hot Deals section they want us to stick to computer hardware and software (games too). I don't think we need a sub section for each piece of hardware or software, that would be micro managing that section too much.

It is a Dead Horse Subject and not even the Mods are following their own rules.
Promo Sales are not Hot Deals but are being posted and are not following the rules as why I say this is a dead horse subject.

Your little fit you threw about the Hot Deals section really freaking ruined that section of the forums. EVGA might as well remove it as there are hardly any post there now days.

Thanks for screwing it up for us MSim.

What are you talking about? His post worked. The retailer sticky threads were confusing, misleading, and stupid since the titles of people's posts quickly became detached from the content of their posts, it was hard to know what was current versus outdated, and it was hard to know which offers or products people were commenting about. It's much better now. Just because people stopped using the section isn't his fault. The section is free as ever. Feel free to post a deal in that section without overbearing rules, instead of complain that no one is posting deals any more.

It's really quite silly to claim that it is his fault without a shred of evidence.
