hi i am new here, my problem is when i start pillars of eternity game from steam, less than five minutes into the game i get a black screen for about 5 seconds, and repeats every five to ten seconds.
then i press the windows key and exit to windows then connect to the internet and go back into the game then i stop getting black screens. if i don't connect to the internet and quit the game while getting black screens then i will keep getting them until i turn my computer off and back on. or when i turn my computer on i try to connect to the internet by clicking the globe icon in windows 10 i get the black screen every time i click on the globe icon which lasts about 5 seconds each time.
any help would be much appreciated.

Does the black screen occur over both hdmi & display port?

WiFi connection or hard wired ?

Reboot the Router recently ?

Which browser are you using ?

Is All Software & OS up to date ?

Control Panel - Power Options -Set to ?

Is your Network set to allow Sleep - look in ---> Change Advanced Power Settings

Hi Sajin and Cool GTX its Wifi connection.
have rebooted router about 2 days ago.
browsers are Vivaldi, fire fox and edge.
all software is up to date.
power options is set to maximum performance except processor is set to 5% and 100%
and PCI-Express link state was moderate now max.
Sorry I could not see anything about network sleep, maybe because I don't have a home network set up.

I have just swapped over DP cable which is 3 meters long to a 2 meter HDMI cable and everything looks better
but last time I did that the problem came back after a few days. so we will see what happens.

also there was a conflict between purchased Antivirus and windows security but I sorted that out last night
do you think that would have anything to do with the problem?

Use a Certified DP cable... they do Not have to be Expensive to be Good ones - check if they are listed:  https://www.displayport.org/products-database/

Hi again everyone. Changing to a 2 meter HDMI cable worked and my DP cable is certified it is "Club 3D 1060 3 Meter".
Should I change to a shorter cable or do you think its another problem?

3 meters or less is fine for hdmi & display port. Maybe a bad display port cable, or a bad display port output on the video card, or bad display port input on the monitor.

Thank you Sajin I put the display port cable back in and used the port which is separate from the other two on the gpu.
I think the other two display port ports have a problem.
It also seems that the display port has a faster interface correct me if I am wrong.
Also would grouping the display port cable with power cable etc.. to tidy them up, would this cause a problem?

Thank you Sajin everything is working okay now. But I am down two display ports.
If in the future if I want to have two monitors can I have one on HDMI port and one on the good display port, or would there be a noticeable
difference?
