bare copper or Nickel plating

will copper turn green if I use a copper block with no plating.

    is it me or does  EK has shorter metal where the ram chips are? I have a 970  ek block where the ram chip aren't touching the block !!  should I go koolance which is the top PIC.

    are you using the correct thermal pads? i usually add a bit of paste as well just to be sure.

    copper will oxidize and start to turn over time, fist is will get dull and have a hazy look, it will stay that way for quite sometime in a climate controlled environment, if in a high humidity environment is will darken and then start to turn green. best thing is to clean it every once in awhile with a copper cleaner and rubbing compound to bring the luster back. now if its been polished it will take longer due to less porous surface from the polishing but will dull over time.

    I have the copper version EK block installed on my GTX 980 for two years now with no oxidizing at all. I have a Nickel plated one on my GTX 980 ti and see no difference in temps between the copper and Nickle versions. As long as you do not touch the bare copper with your bare hands you should be OK.
