Hi all,

This is my first post, so i hope you forgive me if im being a noob.

I recently got a Predator Orion 3000 PO3-620 pre-built pc. Everything works fine, but i noticed that the psu sparks when i turn the pc on via the wall socket, firstly, is the psu sparking ONLY when turning on the switch at the wall normal? once booted into windows, running games, watching movies, the psu is fine - no sparks. the sparks only occur when i turn power on/off via the wall.

Even if this is normal, i dont feel entirely comfortable with a brand new psu sparking.. ive already contacted acer but they are not giving any feedback or replies, so i have taken matters into my own hand. I want to replace the PSU but problem is the motherboard does not support the standard 24 pin connectors found on most psu's. Does EVGA provide any psu (650w gold 80+) that support atx12v?
I found the EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GT 650W which states it does support atx12v, but i wanted to make sure if there were any better alternatives. If you guys have any opinions please let me know, i am worried this faulty psu is going to fry my system :(

The PSU itself should not be sparking inside under any circumstances.

Buy an ATX standard power supply and put in it..But the problem is that the motherboard connector is Acer-proprietary (non-standard)..Soooo, you would need to use an adapter like this or this to convert a standard 24-pin ATX standard power supply to work with an Acer 12-pin motherboard..You can find those adapters at many places..All EVGA (and most all other) power supplies are ATX standard..You can use the OuterVision Power Supply Calculator to estimate the minimum recommended wattage PSU you need.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I took another look at my motherboard and sadly i can only see a 6 pin connector, i dont see any 12 pin connectors. Ive looked on amazon and there are 24 to 6 pin adapters, www . amazon.co.uk/COMeap-Power-Adapter-Workstation-12-inch/dp/B06XW7RWNH/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=atx+24+pin+to+6+pin+adapter&qid=1610630724&sr=8-3

Ive also attached some pictures of the if you need a look imgur . com/a/43S870A

Well that sux that it's not your ordinary 24 to 12 pin Acer adapter, so I really don't know..Maybe Acer has a forum you can go to and find out.

I would for sure keep pressing ACER to take care of it , especially since I assume it is still under warranty. ?
..or at the very least ask the store where you bought it from.  & tell them Acer is not responding to you.

but looks like a new psu runs about $125 and up -  it uses some weird  ATX12VO

If the new psu has the same issues i might just buy a standard atx psu with 24 to 6 pin adapters
