Hello all, I have a z77 ftw mb that i'm trying to put xp on to play older games. The problem is that I get that blue error screen during xp setup when it's tries to start windows. I've never updated the bios so I was trying to do that but the files I downloaded doesn't seem to work. Do I have to flash before xp will install and do I have to flash with a floppy disk? I know the board is fine because it's an extra box that has win7 running on it. Any help is appreciated.

No. Make sure you're installing in legacy mode instead of uefi mode.

Yeah, been a looong time..But if memory serves me well, you may need to press F6 during the install where it says to load drivers as an option..Download the f6flpy driver files for WinXP here and put them on a floppy or USB flash drive..Load the F6 drivers from there..Put the floppy or flash drive in first before starting your PC prior to install.

There's an F6Readme in the download package from Intel.

Here is an old tutorial about slipstreaming those drivers into the XP install..Here is another one..There's many more if you search..I don't think what I told you above about "Load Drivers" is available in XP, been a while.
