Information for Z690 Classified owners of what you can expect with Alder Lake, Raptor lake i will add in the next week. So you dont need to waste your time and mental health, maybe will be useful for someone
I tested a lot of memory kits: four Samsung-B(G.skill 5600c36, G.Skill 6000c36, XPG 6000c40, Samsung 4800c40), three of Hynix-M(Fury 5200, Fury 5600, Hynix 4800c40) and two Hynix-A(G.skill 6400, Hynix 5600c46) with two 12600k and one 12900ks
Max stable frequency limit on 12gen with this board is: Samsung B-die 6200, Hynix M-die 6400, Hynix A-die 7000
Spoiler
Very poor result, if you ask me(C)

Vince said to me that Z690 Classified is not his project and he dont have any relation to this board, lol. Thats why Classy is behaving like a cheap board
close

Hynix A
Hynix M
Samsung B

Any tips on getting the G.Skill F5-8000J3848H16GX2 stable with the 13700K? I'm struggling with this mem kit. XMP doesn't boot into bios at all. I can only get into bios and windows at 5800 right now.

Did you set the XMP 1 Profile and then save and then Power Off the PSU?

I did not power off the PSU. Is that required for whatever reason? I've never done that before.

Did you read the topic? with 12gen max is 7000 for classified
with 13gen will be 7200/7400, i will test tomorrow when cpu will come

    For manual 7000
    CPU VDDQ TX - 1.17v
    VDD2 - 1.34v

    7000 1.45v/1.38v
    tCL - 32
    tRCD - 40
    tRP - 40
    tRAS - 52
    tRRD_S - 8
    tRRD_L - 8
    tRFC - 464
    tRFCpb - 384
    tREFI - 64000
    tRDRD_SG - 16
    tWRRD_SG - 60
    tWRRD_DG - 48
    tWRWR_SG - 24

    Also, G.skill F5-8000J3848H16GX2 is a scam/waste of money
this XMP from the box can work only on Z790 Apex/ Z790i Edge / Z690-Z790 Dark / Z690 Tachyon
You could buy G.skill 6400c32 with a-die for 190$, its the same in terms of overclocking
better to return and save the money

Awesome, it was posts like yours I read through when setting up my old SR-2 Classified board for overclocking really appreciate guys like you that test out memory sticks and CPU overclocks.

Sorry if this is derailing the topic, recently lost my SR-2 due to Hurricane IAN, and well I want to purchase a new motherboard to replace it.
From your experience would I be better off getting the z690 Kingpin since the z690 Classified is out of stock, was really quite fond of my old SR-2 and am sad to have lost it to flood.
I am looking forward to a new build however and will be following posters such as yourself rulik006.

Thanks for what you do on forums even if I dont get reply.

Thank you for this information. In your testing with Alderlake what was your best result with Hynix M with all 4 DIMMs populated? If you have not tested this setup are you willing to conduct some testing? I am running a i9-12900K with 4x16 G.Skill XMP CL32 6000mhz F5-6000J3238F16GX2-TZ5RK. I would really appreciate some help in getting as close to 6000mhz as possible. Currently with my limited knowledge of Alderlake and DDR5 I cannot get higher than 5200mhz stable with just XMP timings and voltages. I have seen multiple examples of ASUS boards achieving this with XMP settings on 4 DIMMs  so I know it is possible but may just be a limitation of this EVGA product more than capabilities of the IMC necessarily.

PS. I am not sure of what I did but I did get a successful post at 6000mhz across 4 DIMMs once but was unable to replicate it because after I reset to go back into the bios I ended up in a postcode 54 loop.

Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL Black Edition
    Motherboard: Z690 Classified
    CPU: i9-12900K @ default
    RAM: 4x16 G.Skill Trident Z5 CL32 6000mhz
GPU: RTX 4090 FE @ default
    Cooling: EKWB O11 Dynamic XL distro plate, Vector 2 CPU and GPU blocks, x3 360 rads (x2 44mm, X1 30mm), x9 120mm Vardar X3M RGB Fans
PSU: EVGA Supernova 1600W T2 with Cable Mod GPU and MB custom sleeved cables.

Currently i dont have 4x16 M-die to test.
    Best variant for 64gb is 2x32 A-die
I had 2x32 M-die, i was able to do 6400, but didnt had the time to test it for stabillity. Max boot was 6400
    i guess M-die 2x32 can run 6000/6200 stable, A-die most likely 6600

Also, i have good news: almost got managed to get Samsung B-die stable at 6600c32
One of the thing helped: ProcODT 34/48/48/40/34 or SA/MC PLL 0.980v or both

    This guy was right
Ekwb1103with 13 gen its works worse then with 12

With Raptor Lake Classified behaves even worse than with Alder Lake. You expecting to get a memory boost 133-400mt/s with 13th gen, but in this case its vice versa
Tried two bioses 2.06/2.08, spent 5hours testing Samsung and Hynix A-die
With A-die i couldn't get even 6800 stable! with various TX/VDD2/MC PLL and procodt, despite with Alder Lake this board can do 7000
    So 6600 for A-die, 6400 for B-die
This board sucks and should be restricted for sale due to very poor memory topology/signaling, worse than cheapest MSI scrap

great thread - and six months late for me
neverthles, I can confirm 6200 for B-die, It can be somewhat alleviated by manually relaxing round-trip and tMRR

    Little update
    G.skill 6600c34 M-die + 12600K
    Manual SA/TX/VDD2
Z690 Tomahawk - 6800 stable, surprisingly good result for cheap board

    Z690 Classified - cant even last 30sec

Maybe Classified can run 6800 with lose RTL by 1 step on CH-B like on Tomahawk, will find out tommorow
Currently Classified losing to cheapest MSI board, despite 10-layer pcb vs 6-layer
Only good thing about Classified: Samsung B-die OC is better than on other boards

Re: Z690 Classified max stable memory Frequency 2023/01/30 07:14:49 (permalink)
    higher RTL not helping
Max 6800 M-die running 2 minutes without errors. 6600 stable with 6600 binned kit.
A-die at 7200 just impossible on this board, errors in 10 sec various TX and VDD2 will not make better result

    final verdict on 2.08 bios + 12Gen ( My board is Rev1.3)
B-die 6600 (possible with green sticks which are better than G.skill)
    M-die 6600 (only with highly binned M-die)
    A-die 7000

And if you wondering which board you should buy instead of your Classified, i can say:
Z690 Aorus Master is able to do 7400 with 12gen, outclass Classified by 400mt/s
Currently is the best 4-dimm board which i tested (Asus & Msi worse)
plus master is affordable, can be found used/open box around 250-330$

So an update on my setup. I got 4 DIMMs to work in XMP1 on Gear 2.
The short version is this did not work the first time I tried it but now it does and is stable for no explainable reason. My G.Skill RAM is SK Hynix M die.

    These are the steps:
    1. CPU set to default settings to start.
    2. VDDQ and VDD2 voltages to 1.2v and 1.35v respectively.
    3. Undervolt the CPU by -15mv and leave Vdroop on auto. (not necessary but it is part of my settings)
    4. Set RAM to XMP1 (XMP1 is 6000mhz for this RAM).
    5. Selected the per DIMM setting for the voltages and set each DIMM to their rated voltage (in this case 1.35v).
    6. Select Gear 2.
    7. Manually set command rate to 2N.
    8. Disabled C state 1.
    9. Save and restart system.

I will progressively fine tune this set up over time. My only goal for this build was to get everything working as advertised and I reached that goal (except for the G.Skill RGB software for the RAM, the software won't detect DIMM 4). Now my new goal is to improve the overall power efficiency. Down the line I will tinker with overclocks to find the maximum stable potential with 4 DIMMs but for now I am happy.

You dont need manual select gear or command rate, it always will be gear2 under 8000 and 2N
Can it pass one cycle of TM5 extreme anta preset or 20minutes of OCCT avx?

I prefer to manually set settings regardless of built in parameters. Aside from that I don't use those tests you mentioned and I stick with testing that easily detects instability. Cinebench15/20/23 will all crash if its slightly unstable in the least and I run 10 passes each. Then run memtest64 for an hour. Then run several of the 3dmark benchmarks which will also crash if it is not stable. All while running hardware monitor on a separate screen. For gaming and streaming that should be enough to determine if the setup is stable for everyday use.

Well, gear 2 is default for ddr5, there is no gear1, only gear 2,4.  Default is fine my ddr5 that runs at 8200 stable at default gear settings

    I don’t know what is manufacture of my ram, I have this kit Team T-Force Delta RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 5600 (PC5 44800)
    Stable on 6666mhz 32-40-40-28
    https://imgur.com/a/t9Frq9f
Tried 6800-7000 could start but did not pass tests. Tried 32-36 timings and 1.435v.

Thinking about buying Hynix a-die kit, but not sure is it possible to get anything more?
Will not to change motherboard, it’s awesome and I bought it on sales and now war in my country, so not right time for big upgrades.

Tomorrow I will update this post with my settings in bios.

BTW:how to increase voltage for ram more than 1.435v? Because I wasn’t able to do it on memory tab.
