Z590 Dark GPU does not fit

Rtx 3080 xc1 stuck on sata ports, and does not lock in place. Is this a common thing? I was reading about other brands, but nothing specific for EVGA.

    Sometimes a small case or fan wire can get in the way - I just wanted to mention it is best to use a good portable light & check carefully for other items getting trapped between GPU & MB
     
    Is the MB mounted in a case? 
     
    Is MB flat or possible small curve?
     
    I've had issues in the past with some mounted in a case Asus MB, though I was able to support the back of MB & get GPU locked into PCIe slot

    It is a Lian li O11. Big enough, nothing cought in between. I've tries many times, in and out and back in. No problems on old motherboard, now with this one it just doesnt fit. I ordered a vertical mount. Sick of waiting. :) Thanks for help.

    just for better clarity of my earlier post (not small case) ---> "small --> case or fan - wire" - can get in the way if the wire is laying on top of anything that is a close fit to your GPU.
     
    I've had the bottom (MB side) of GPUs get so close to the top of a USB port (plastic cover) on the MB a single piece of paper was a tight fit, if it fit at all.  That was an instance the force me to support the back of the MB while installing the GPU, so the GPU would latch into the PCIe
     
    The vertical mount, is a good way around this type of issue.  What did you buy ?
