Hi Guys.

I just bought a Z490 FTW, with a i9-10900K and 32GB GSKILL 4266 CL17 memories

My problem is that as soon I set the XMP profile in the Bios, the PC doesn't boot anymore. I press the safe boot button on the motherboard to be able to enter in the Bios again and revert the changes.

Finally what I did is activate the XMP Profile and set the Ram frequency on 4000Mhz and everything is working well now. I Tried with 4266 (the default one), 4200, 4100 and I couldn't make the PC runs normally (it doesn't boot).

If the Z490 FTW supports 4400MHz according the specs, why I cannot make my XMP profile works as expected with its predetermined settings?

BTW, if I use the stock settings for the CPU or applied a 5.1Ghz OC, the results is the same.

I'll really appreciate your help on this. Thanks!!!

Probably need to adjust your vsa/vccio voltages to 1.3v. If that doesn't help your cpu imc just can't handle 4266.

Even if you can’t get it to boot on 4266 the 266 mhz difference won’t be felt using the PC.
Technically the 10th gen intel only supports 2933 MHz according to ark sheets, so the aftermarket boards are using faster speeds than the CPU needs anyway just to cram the data down the pipe.
So as said before the internal memory controller on your particular CPU may be 4000mhz.
From my understanding and research the Intel platforms are not as sensitive to memory speed as AMD anyway so just get it going and enjoy!

They are already on 1.3v. This is sad then

    What memory configuration is this?
    4x8 ?  or 2x16 ?

Can you post an Asrock Timing Configurator 4.0.3 screenshot of the timings shown?  Note: 4.0.4 will not work (and must actually be uninstalled before installing 4.0.3).
Bonus points: please post a screenshot capture of *ALL* of the BIOS pages for DRAM timing and configuration page sections, everything to do with DRAM config.  Best thing is to upload it on imgur then post the 'direct link' to each picture, although an album also works.  I don't have this board, so it would be people better at memory overclocking than me, trying to see if there are some settings you can change, but if you don't upload the full bios configuration settings for DRAM, we can't help you.

I have a 4x8 configuration. Here you have the screenshots of the XMP settings, I had to set the Memory Frequency to 4000Mhz to make it work. The default value is 4266 from the XMP Profile

Give a shot with newest bios, maybe it'll work now.

Hi guys, I'm in 1.09 Bios and Still the 4266 XMP profile doesn't work. It is running on 4000Mhz with same settings as 4266. I've manually adjusted the speed in the bios. Is there another setting that I can tweak to get my ram working on the expected speed?

For what it's worth, I am running the 10900K on the Z490 Dark KPE with this exact ram kit and the XMP profile runs just fine. I also OC'd a little on top of that so currently running 4400 @ cl 16 and it's totally stable. If I try for cl 15 then I start getting errors in occt.

So if you're on the z490 FTW, the latest bios, same CPU and ram kit as me, then I assume the issue would be the ram kit or the mobo. Maybe worth pinging EVGA support.

You also might know that 4 memory sticks to be handled by your cpu's imc should be harder than 2 memory sticks, so that's maybe the reason why you can't reach this predefined speed...

Had the exact same problem on my MSI Z490 when enabling XMP only dif was 16 GB gskill. Tried again leaving xmp disabled and manually setting dram voltage to 1.4 volts, which is what this kit runs at, and everything worked fine kit now running at 4266. I managed to do this with a locked i5 10400 (waiting on rocket lake). MSI Bios has a menu for manually picking memory speeds outside of xmp I would imagine EVGA has the same

FYI   Patriot Viper 32G 4400DRAM(Samsung) (not on Intel tested compatible list)
    1. With these filling all 4 slots – XMP not recognized (EVGA support confirmed)
    2. To date max out setting to 2933Mhz ~1.309v (shows Target over 3000) for stability
    3. Tweaking voltages even in small stages has still caused sporadic instability in bios or os boot
    4. At this point I believe any further increase is useless anyway (and probably unnecessary)
From a 10900 (NO K) cpu standpoint .. it is at its best with BCLK @ 102.6 (no tweaked voltage)
4913 - 4722Mhz and boosts to over 215 watts as need for short bursts never over or sustaining 76c with CLC
(5200Mhz is an Intel joke, overall performance is greater than expected, seen 5100 @ idle)
    Cinebench R23  consistently 15468 – 15558
..... BE INTERESTED TO HEAR FEEDBACK AND SUGGESTIONS (other than update GPU bottleneck club)
     Not a real "Gamer"
..just a everyday user with a inquiring ancient (real original IBM pc old) mind and a serious "control issue"!
