I really want the Dark. But I really need a running computer at home. I am contemplating putting in a FTW and then doing a step up on this build. Old X58 Classified board is a dead.
However, I'm doing hard tube water cooling for the first time. Don't want to have to make all new loops when Dark comes out.
What are the odds the sockets are in the exact same position on both boards. I'm sure it's zero but maybe someone from EVGA would know this answer.

I7 9900K, Asus ROG Maximus XI Formula, EVGA RTX 2080 TI Black, EVGA 1600T2 psu, Thermaltake Tower 900, Samsung 970 EVO MVMeM2, G.Skill Trident Z 16GB DDR4 3600 CL15, EKWB D5 rgb pump res combo with 400 mm reservoirs. Corsair LL120 X 4, LL140 X 2, NOCTUA NF-f12 X 3, EK XE 480 and black ice 360 Radiators, Custom LED lights, PetG tubing.

What are you going to be populating the sltos with. And remember they have to conform to a standard for sltos so they line up with cases

Not sure I understand. I plan to Water cool the CPU and later on a second loop for gpu(s). If the socket 1151's are in the same spot, I could pull off the waterblock and put it on the new board without having to make/bend new tubing.

That's the thought anyway. Otherwise I may end up with a Maximus XI formula.

When you said sockets I read it as PCIe slots, not CPU socket location, sorry. You would need to have the boards measured from the screw mounting holes for the case and from there to the cooler pass through holes

Isn’t the dark cpu socket rotated 90 degrees? I would suspect that would make the entire layout just a little different due to the placement of VRMs and such around the socket.

Maybe save the two motherboard images and then overlay them and align the holes for the motherboard mounts and see if maybe the two socket mounts line up.

Honestly, I would think everything may have shifted due to the socket rotation.

I'm sure your right. It was just a thought to stay EVGA. It's the same old story. Bunch of parts burning a hole in your pocket.....waiting to be worked on.

Leaning towards the Asus board if EVGA doesn't give some hope.
