Everytime I try running updates on a clean install, my display shuts off, any efforts of retrieving display is null and void. So I thought I would bypass by downloading Nvidia drivers for my 2080ti first, but I keep getting a compatibility error!

I'm running Windows 10 PRO 64bits, version 1703.

I can't update this or else my display will shut off!

Fixed by downloading Windows 10 1809 ISO and updating that way. After, I used Nvidia Experience to update driver!

Was you trying to utilize an old SSD/Harddrive with windows already installed, or just an old install iso?

Version 1703 was from March of 2017.

I swapped circuit boards and from what I've gathered you can't run the same HD unless you reinstall windows. My install disc was pretty old, anyway, now that I have everything up-to-date, i'm running into another problem. ARTIFACTS! I think it might be a Z390 DARK/2080 TI FTW3 combo that might be causing the issue? I'm currently running through older drivers to see if it fixes it, some are better than others.

Easier said then done, it's fully mounted with hard tubes. I might try it later on.

I'm going to have to drain it and see what I can do, there goes my Sunday. Also, I noticed it only gets artifacts during games, or I should say PUBG when it actually launched. It crashes now, it usually kills video feed on YouTube until I either refresh or resize the video. I'm also getting these snowflake like artifacts on UE4 benchmark and it has no audio.

Does this sound like an overheating issue?

I'm on 1809 now.

A little more diagnostics, when the display freezes or goes black, my tower fans kick up. Can it be that the Copper Plate isn't placed properly?

I thought - Windows Version 1803 is the minimum (oldest) required for these new 2080Ti cards

Did you install your gpu waterblock yourself?

If so, how did you apply the thermal paste?

ByteXavier what are the temps showing when viewing the sensor tab in GPU-Z, is there any 1 memory sensor reading higher the the rest?

The same way you apply paste on a CPU? I'm curious about the VRMs since they had paste too with the regular SC heatsink, I'm trying to remember if the Copper block had thermal pads for them or if I need to reapply paste.

Paste should only have been on the GPU, the memory and VRM should have been pads

You should cover the die of the GPU.

Apply a thick line across the top of the die, use a credit card to “pull” the line down over the die covering the entire die.

A gpu does not have the pleasure of using an IHS to spread the heat like a cpu. You have got to cover every tiny bit of the GPU, or there will be black screens and artifacts.

If you need a video, I have spare thermal paste and a spare gpu. I can have it ready in 15 minutes.

I'm not sure if I spread the paste, but the block was working on my last build. Not sure what changed, I'll need to open it back up.

Sounds good. Hopefully it is something very simple. I made the video anyway, because I needed a break from studying. I will post it when it is ready.

Thanks, also I just remembered that I had to overwrite my voltage on my CPU for it not to crash, could this also be happening with the GPU? How would I even change the voltage of my GPU?

Thanks again for the ideas! I downloaded Precision X1 to see if I can overvolt the standard 100% and had to install something else, not sure what it was, framework I think? In any case, I overvolted to 124% along with the program that I had to install and it seemed to fix my problems!

I realized that I said MX-5 multiple times when I meant Artic Silver 5, lol.

Not sure if this will help, but hopefully it does :-). The grain of rice/pea size worked better than I am use to, lol.

Just an update. I found the USB that came with the board and installed the drivers/chipset and it seemed to iron out my problems like video stutters while multitasking with games!

Perfect!

We should suggest that they tape the usb drive to the socket cover... make it easy to find :-)
