Hey All:

So from looking at the documentation for the Z390 Dark I don't see any tested ram kits in the manual. I'm on an a X99 Classified now and have been looking into upgrading but I'm trying to find a good dual channel memory kit that is 32 GB and will permit a decent overclock. So I just wanted to see what kits the community has been using that might fit this use case. I've used Corsair Dominator kits on the X99 platform and it appears the only 32 GB dual channel kit they have i the line is this one I figured I'd see what else is out there, I haven't shopped on the main stream platform in a while but it seems like the HEDT line doesn't make much sense these days unless you are doing some serious multi-thread intensive workloads.

Thanks

I went with 32 GB of G Skill Trident Z RGB 3200 MHz CL14 ram on my Dark build.

My rig has been running flawless for me now for over 2 weeks, very happy with it.
Have it overclocked to 5.1 GHz on all 8 cores (9900k), and ram running at it's XMP Profile.

I had always ran Corsair Dominator in the past but could not find a pair of sticks like I wanted in their lineup this time, at least nothing available at the time.

I went with vengence pro CL 14 3200 mhz.   at 16 GB.  Don't see why 32 wouldn't work.

Your financial budget for memory is important. I like corsair for any rig. If you like RGB memory this one should work if this is within your budget:

I like to ask the RAM Mfg what they have that is tested as compatible with any given MB

I was looking at this kit also, the pickings do appear to be slim in the Corsair space for dual channel kits right now. I have never purchased G Skill before but I've seem them featured on some prominent tech reviewers so I'm willing to give them a shot.

Yea I like Corsair also, I have always gone for the Dominator line for the extra flexibility it tends to bring. It looks like the one kit that was Dual channel 32 GB isn't sold by any retailers and is Corsair direct only right now. I've never done the whole RGB thing in the past because my rig sits under my desk away from my mic.

I have the supported memory list for this motherboard, and will try to get it up on the site early this week.

Hello. I just got Z390 Dark delivered. I got this kit CMW32GX4M2C3200C16. It is not listed in the Z390 Dark memory compatibility list, but I assume it will work ? The list has only Dominator , LPX, and ValueSelect kits. I don't see any "CMW" Vengance RGB Pro. The kits have the same specs, speed, timing, Voltage, etc. Anyway I will test it hopefully it will work.

Can I chime in and ask (as I’ve bought my memory before I can get hold of a z390 dark) and just presumed it would work... but now worries as I didn’t even realise there was a compatibility list!

Bought a dual 32GB kit DDR4-3466 16-18-18-36 C16 Corsair vengeance Pro RGB.

will this work?

The reality is that there will always be far more memory kits available than we will ever have the opportunity to test, both at the time we do final QA/QC testing and memory released later on.  The compatibility list helps to provide a fairly decent-sized list for customers, but there's also a lot of memory that won't make it on there because we don't have it to test.  There are only a small handful of memory that doesn't pass testing, and most of that is probably because the memory itself fails during testing.  Instead, it's probably better to look at the specs of other compatible memory and compare that to your intended memory, if it doesn't show up on the official compatibility list.

Thanks, when I read the manual I’m sure it said it didn’t support 32gb so as I can see people run it, I presumed as you said only what has officially been tested is on the list and anything else should be ok, but at our own risk basically.

Post me a z390 dark from states to the UK and I’ll tell you if it works, I’ll even pay for it and shipping :-) just want one :-)

Well, this might be a case where more clarity is needed.  32GB is usually assumed to mean the full amount of the kit, such as 16GB per kit.  If you're talking about 32GB per DIMM, I would have to check on that.

I was wrong it clearly states supports 32gb in 16x2... says underneath doesn’t officially support 32gb per slot..

I skimmed read the manual and remembered it different lol

anyways, who bothers reading the manual 😂
