Hi,
Bios and programs such as HWiNFO64, E-LEET Tuning Utility X do not show the fan speed correctly in the range from 500(about 27%) to 900 RPM.
N/A is displayed, but sometimes the fan speed appears for a while.
Above 900 RPM the value is displayed correctly all the time.

Fans connected to CHA_FAN and SYS_FAN1.
Bios 1.07, default configuration.

Tested fans:
be quiet! Pure Wings 2
NB-eLoop B12-PS

    Have you tried AIDA64?

    Yes, sensor appears and disappears.

Strange, I had AIDA64 report fan speeds in the low 300 RPM range.

Bios also shows speed correctly? where did you connect the fan (which header)?

This was years ago when I actually connected case fans to the motherboard.

It was on an Asus Striker Extreme mobo with a 230MM fan.

Can anyone who has a Z390 Dark motherboard check this at low fan speed? I don't know if it's bios / software problem or motherboard problem.

    Hey scabpl,
I have exactly the same issues with my Z390 dark on both Bios 1.07 and the XP-Bios:
All sensors show in irregular order N/A or pretty unlikely values (like 5000 RPM). Sometimes the correct speed value will be shown (at around 400 RPM) for a second, but in this way it is not usable. These issues are in BIOS and also with Windows-Tools like hwinfo.
I tested a lot of different Fans, both voltage and pwm controlled, but the issue persists. I tested every header on the board - its the same!

    @EVGA
Can anyone help in this topic?
    Thanks!

    Hey scabpl & TheSpecialOne,

The same issue for me too unfortunately. Mine is demonstrating exactly the same behavior as your boards (out of the box on BIOS v1.06 and also on the latest BIOS v1.07).

I've contacted EVGA support to see if they can offer any help at all. Did either of you find a solution on your own or from EVGA support?

    Just a quick update,
Tried my other two BIOS versions on BIOS switch positions 2 & 3 (both v1.06) with no difference at all.
EVGA customer service claims to be unfamiliar with this issue. They were also unable to comment on whether a BIOS update might rectify the issue.
For the benefit of others, I've tried Noctua, BeQuiet, Thermalright & Corsair fans (PWM & Voltage Controlled), all display exactly the same behavior

Bios won’t show anything under ~1k rpm for me. Don’t have my cpu at moment so can’t double check though. Bios 1.07

Hey thanks for the replies scabpl & boostedevo,

There really seems to be an inherent issue with reading lower/lowish fan speeds on this board, no matter what fans are used.
I'm currently in the process of RMAing mine as this is just unacceptable to me. I need the basic luxury of being able to monitor my fan speeds at all times.

    Will keep you posted.

Try pwm mode in bios? Manual says it needed if your using external power other than mobo connection, don’t know if that applies or not.

Yes, tried that and no difference I'm afraid.

Question for you guys - Is this just a software reading issue in the BIOS/Aida64, or are you also seeing issues with the fan running/starting up?  In other words, to confirm, you aren't seeing an issue with the fan operation, right?  Just the readings in the BIOS/Aida64?

    @ LeeM,
Fans appeared to be working OK, no start up issues. Seems to be a reading issue in BIOS/Windows Tools.

    @LeeM

Confirm - fans working fine. I have a 4pin pwm hub with 8 fans (480 rads) going into both cpu fan 1 and 2 headers (SATA powered ofc). 4 pin pwm Pump goes to cha fan 1 header. No issues controlling them in bios, I run the typhoons about 11-1200rpm, under 1000 or so and the read out gets spotty in bios. Have not checked software in Windows. Never really bothered me and just ran everything over 1k rpm at least :)
