Pulled the trigger and picked one up from Newegg. according to what I've read it should work in this MB with the latest BIOS update.

Yes, compatible but maybe not supported, there's a difference..The CPU and mobo are both socket LGA 1151..But, that CPU is only supported with BIOS version 1.09 or higher, that's the catch..See: CPU and Memory Support.

That's the problem when buying a mobo from a vendor like Newegg is that they don't update the BIOS prior to shipping it out to you (that i'm aware of) and it may need updated to support the CPU because it might have an older BIOS, whereas when you buy a mobo direct from EVGA, they update the BIOS to the latest version at the time prior to shipping it out to you.

Sooooo, you might get it with an older BIOS that fails to boot with a 9th generation Intel CPU and then you would either need to install a supported CPU and flash to the latest BIOS, or send it to EVGA or take it to a PC repair shop to have it flashed..The BIOS chip is not removeable/replaceable on that board like some are, it's soldered on.

    Got yah,

I've been running this board for a while now with a 8700k with the current 1.13 BIOS.

shouldn't be an issue with the current setup i've been running. All I'm doing is swapping CPU's.

Z370 FTW i9-9900KF windows not seeing all cores. 2019/10/09 20:57:50 (permalink)
I'm not out of the dog house yet.

So I'm having an issue with Win10 seeing all 8 cores.

Running it in auto with Turbo boost enabled. Windows Task manager is only seeing 6 cores........Aida64 only sees 6 cores....

Device manager shows 8 cores. Intel ETU see's 8 cores.

Now the super weird part is that if I take if off of auto in the BIOS and switch it to manual and set multiplier. No matter what I set it at. Once I boot into windows, the OS only sees 6 cores and the OC doesn't take.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Intel Chipset drivers and ME still no joy.

    HELP!!!!

I'm afraid if I install a new OS It's going to be the same result. Anyone else Running this CPU on this board?

    That figures, uffff.

Only thing I can suggest is type in msconfig in the search bar and press Enter to run it..Then go to the Boot tab -> Advanced options and manually input the Number of processors (8).

I have given a name to my pain, and call it "UEFI".

... but seriously, I have one of these boards, it killed a RAM stick, or the RAM stick killed it .
Either way the result is the same, one dead RAM, and one dead board .

    Congratulation you have i9-9900KF !!

Just wonder have you reset clean default your BIOS setting before install new upgrade new CPU? (Always default your BIOS for any add new hardware)
Try again reset your BIOS back default and (do not boot up to windows yet) then shut down and pull the power plug from then wall and try press and hold power button on your PC case till your will the power go die down!! so try again setup your BIOS setting and test boot up?

Have you try boot BIOS switch Chip select 2 to boot up new CPU?
