Any thoughts on updates for the Z170 RST drivers?  We are blocked from the 1903 update for now.  I don't like the idea of going direct to intel and trying to see if the RST drivers work.

I would never update any HD driver or part of a RAID without a full backup in place

Motherboard manufactures in general seem to always be behind on chipset and Intel RST drivers. That being said I am pretty sure they are just re-posting or re-distributing the Intel driver and not really making any changes to it... Personally I would always suggest using drivers provided by the manufacturer (ex: nvidia, Intel, AMD, etc) over using drivers from companies like EVGA when possible as they are usually more current.

I also agree with Cool GTX, make sure you have a solid backup of your system before updating said drivers and installing the Windows update.

As a side note updating the driver to the newest one is not resolving the issue in all cases... I have updated/removed/re-installed the driver on my work computer multiple times, but Windows refuses to install the update. From experience this is looking like a a good time for a lot of people to consider doing a full re-install of Windows 10 IMO. I suspect that this issue will be resolved soon, by Microsoft so it may be worth while just holding on the update all together.

as a general rule I don't back up anything.  My games saves reside in the cloud so I just nuke the whole thing and reinstall the OS and games....  fells even squeakier clean that way to me I suppose.

I will hold off on the RST update for a while.  I know I had a hell of a time last year trying to update RST and there were several updated versions that were not compatible with the Z170 and it crashed my system after each install.

I also had a bunch of issues related to RAID0 on the M.2 drives which is something I will never do again.  I don't think raid did anything for my performance, just made updating the RST thing nearly impossible.

You like to live life on the edge, lol.

IMO very few people have an actual use case for NVME drives running in RAID0. Really not a lot of people have a valid use case for a single NVME drive...

I generally do this as well BUT I use the Google Chrome internet browser mostly. I have the backup and sync functionality enabled. So if I install Google Chrome on a clean build I log into Google in the browser and after a few minutes all of my bookmarks appear. They were backed up and Google restores them.

Have you tried the Intel's Driver & Support Assistant? I know some will scoff at the idea of installing it but maybe of some help in your situation. At least I think would be interesting to see what it suggest.
I been using it for a couple of months to see I like it or not and so far seems okay and it did update somethings (networking drivers) my OEM did not and still have not provided through their support although RST was one they did recently.
But one of the first things I did was to uninstall the Intel Computing Improvement Program the package put on my system.

Edit: If that's not your bag maybe try IOBIT Driver Booster as suggested by NazcaC2.

    EyeDeeNo,  you da man!

Intel's Driver & Support Assistant did the trick.  It found the correct 1903 compatible RST driver and the updates installed flawlessly.  That was easy.
