I was excited the day that my z10 arrived this was to be my first mechanical gaming keyboard.

My first z10 lasted about 12 hours before it failed, it wouldn't register keystrokes. RMAed it and my new one arrived. First thin I noticed after removing it from the box was that both slider buttons were off and laying loose in the box, this was the same for the keyboard that I RMAed as well. EVGA is aware of this problem and has done nothing to remedy it.

The Z10 is a good keyboard and functions very well, the lighting is about perfect and since my color scheme is red it fits in very well. Typing and playing on the keyboard is a pleasure.

The biggest problem with the keyboard leads me back to those sliders, they don't work very well. You try to slightly adjust the volume and it jumps from zero sound to 40-50 with the lightest touch, not only that but it causes the volume to raise and lower at times when I am not touching the sliders. The other morning I slid the volume slider all the way right and NOTHING. I played with it and got it to start working again, however now the volume will not go lower than 10, even with the slider all the way to the left (off) my volume is still at 10, a slight touch and it jumps to 50!

It's disappointing that a company like EVGA would go with the cheapest and possibly worst slider switches on the market. After my warranty period unless EVGA does some drastic changes I will be switching keyboard brands.

Keyboard: NICE
Sliders: CHEAP and Don't work well.!

All 5 of mine work great.
My 6th one has an issue under Windows 10 1809 with the LCD and PXOX but everything else works like a charm.
Did you install the Software (EVGA Unleash Keyboard Tuning Utility) to allow it to update the Firmware to 72 and also in the Folder where the software is installed there is a file EVGA_FWUpdate105.exe and is the Firmware for 73 that you can run as an Admin to update to 73.
I just set the Slider to 90 on the Sound and 10 on the Led Brightness never touch them and then use Unleash to set Brightness I want and then apply and Save to the Z10 and then exit and ever use Unleash after this, I also uncheck to start with Windows.

Yes I have updated everything. My PC isn't far from my bedroom and while my wife is sleeping I like to be able to adjust the sound as to not wake her up. The sliders should work better period!

I just use my mouse and lower the Volume using the small Speaker in the Taskbar.
But I see your point, it is not a big deal for me.

One of the early Z10 designs, they had wheels instead of sliders. Not sure why they went with one of the worst designs you can have for volume control. The wheel volume controller on my Corsair K70 Lux RGB works perfect. I love being able to switch the back lighting on it.

Yeah, the sliders were a bad idea...but I love my keyboard...so I ignore them...other than occasionally saying "they need to do better" in that area...the silver 'heads' of the sliders aren't attached well...and honestly, they don't work quite good enough.

I have to agree sliders are not as good as a dial but for the most part they nailed everything else. RGB lighting would have been nice but I would probably mostly use red anyway.

I wouldn't say they nailed it, when they had a fire sale on the keyboard. The price went from $150 to $50 in under 6 months of the keyboard being on the market.

It's $40 now and they must be losing money on it. I almost bought one at that price, but the ridiculously large 1980's type LCD screen turned me off. I wonder if they are even going to bother with another keyboard now considering some of those design features were so off what the market wanted.

My honest feelings is it’s a great keyboard. The flaws it does have are kind of what you expect going in. When you see the slider you know a wheel would be better and when you see the single color screen you know it has limited uses. You also know going in it lacks RGB lighting going in.

The real thing that matters to me is the feeling and the backlight which I feel both are done very well. It’s a joy to type on. Of course this is based on what the keyboard can be found online for. For the $149.99 price I would want something with it like the gaming mouse at the very least. The online prices make it very good for the price.

To give you an idea of why I think it's the best keyboard for the money you can pick it up for $39.99 + S&H
