The capture card works well with 1080p/720p sources, but acts a little weird with 480p sources. There are 2 main problems that I've encountered. The first problem is that the capture feed seems to stutter/freeze frame quite a lot when set to NV12, supposedly to keep audio from desyncing, but this does not happen with 1080p/720p sources and the audio stays in sync with the video just fine. The second being that the way colors look changes between NV12 and YUY2. YUY2 seems to make reds more orange, greens darker and blues a little bit brighter but its barely noticeable compared to reds and greens. However changing color space to 601 with YUY2 seems to make the colors look closer to NV12. And as of firmware version 09.0E, darker colors look even darker than before. I have tried a Wii U set to 480p and a Retrotink 2x MINI and both have the same issues so I assume the same goes for all 480p sources. None of these issues are present with 1080p/720p sources from what I can tell, so if they could be addressed in the next firmware update, I'd really appreciate it and it would make me want to recommend this capture card more!

The retrotink 2x is meant for upscaling 240p to 480p. Inputting a 480p source to the retrotink can cause undesired functionality and according to the documentation, 480p inputs should only be used in passthrough mode to digitize the direct signal, which would do the same as simply outputting 480p over HDMI.

I'm fully aware that the retrotink 2x pro can't pass through 480p and I have the mini anyway which lacks the component input. What I meant was that the retrotink 2x line of scalers are 480p sources themselves and I'd like to capture my 2x mini with XR1 Lite, but the capture card seems to have issues capturing 480p. I just used the Wii U as another example to show that it's not just the retrotink that the capture card has issues capturing. I'm sorry if my original post was a bit misleading.

Thank you for clarifying that. Can you please provide screenshots of your OBS settings including the video capture device properties? I assume the issue only happens with the capture and does not stutter or freeze on the passthrough to the television?

Thank you for that info. All the settings appear to be fine, so that should not be an issue. I would recommend testing with a different computer, if possible to eliminate that from the testing and narrow down any issues to the card itself. If the issues continue, I would recommend contacting our support team at support@evga.com to start an RMA request for the product, as 480p should work without issue.
