OK guys, so i never overclocked before.
I got EVGA X99 motherboard with i7-5930k and GTX980 which soon will be changed to RTX2080.

First, i found this thread, and followed it:

Then i basically set the Manual clocking and set multiplier to 42, after that i set voltage of the core to Adaptive, set the voltage target to 1.075V and offset voltage to 50mV.

Anyway, i restarted, all restarts nicely. BIOS now shows 4.2GHz, the temperature RED LED inside motherboard showed 50C (before this setting with default settings it was 35C).
And by the way now i see that with just standard Windows apps and nothing running the temp reads 45-46C.

Then i downloaded MSI Afterburner utility which can show CPU temperature and CPU frequency, it shows 4190MHz and 41C (few degrees less than the on-board LED on the X99).

After that, i launched my ArmA 3 with all ultra settings...messed around for few mins, nothing wrong happened.

Please see below screen captures of my BIOS:

Here is snapshot from CPU Z:

So... what can you - the experienced guys comment? Does it mean all good? Did i win a silicon lottery ticket with this processor? Does it mean the processor can be pushed more?

On another side... to be honest, I am happy if it works stable and with these temperatures at 4.2GHz, so I probably don't want to push more.

But also couple questions (feel free to address all or specific question you like):
1) In BIOS screen you see the temp is 39C, in MSI Afterburner it is 42C, in RED LED on-board indicator it is 45C. Does this sound like OK or realistic temperature readings?
2) Please recommend maybe any other better CPU monitoring program?
3) Anyone by any chance knows how to make MSI Afterburner also report CPU core voltage? (I managed to report freq. and temp. to my Logitech gaming pad!)
4) Would you recommend going further pushing it more? or not if i want my CPU to last long? And if yes, what would be next steps?
5) Do you think given the above description and measurements it seems that my CPU works in a stable way?
6) I have Ripjaws 4 DDR4 ram, it has XMP support. in MEMORY section of BIOS i selected XMP profile 1, with all Auto settings... i guess thats enough? or would you recommend something more on that end too?

    Welcome to the Forum
    On which EVGA X99 Motherboard?
Keep the CPU Temp below 80°C @ 100% Load. I do my best to keep mine before 74°C
" In BIOS screen you see the temp is 39C, in MSI Afterburner it is 42C" Because you have no OS to put a Load on the CPU.
I do not use MSI Afterburner but do use Core Temp and  AIDA64 Extreme but software is never 100% Correct on Temps or Voltages

Both Computers run PG @ 90% Usage without issues and run between 48°C and 62°C

    my MB is X99 FTW.

as i mentioned, during idle its 45C now, and when i do stressing of CPU with CPU Z program for example, it gets to 59C or so.

when i play games maybe 53C.

so given above as well as my other info on voltages etc, you think i have it all nicely setup or?
