EVGA's tech support didn't have an answer either way for me yesterday (January 5th, 2018), so I figured that I'd post in the forums. What's the status EVGA's BIOS update for Intel's microcode patch that is required to fix Spectre/Meltdown in the X99 Intel lineup? This isn't going away with just software updates. https://arstechnica.com/g...rs-are-doing-about-it/

Myself I am not going to worry to much about my X99 Classified Rig, I do believe that EVGA will come out with a new Bios for this Chipset. I just went to 2.04 had a heck of a time getting my Memory back how I run it as well as the Overclock. Same with my X79 Motherboards, ASUS seem to not care about the Older Chipset Motherboards and not much can be done being out of warranty and all. My biggest problem is Dell not supporting older out of warranty Servers that now I must get new or stop playing.

That's for a different bug, not for Spectre/Meltdown.

Firewall on your internet router Unless your a business or you do not clear your browser and Windows files often and keep your Anti-Malware signatures up to date Only some Cached content can be read from RAM --> not sure its a BIG issue Free version of CCleaner works very well to remove cached items and files

It doesn't tell you if your cpu is affected or not. The link just tells you how to get patched, and how to check if the patches are applied.

The original link I gave you is correct. Run the tool in power shell if you get a lot of red text you are vulnerable. You then begin to patch until all the red text is gone and you are safe. It looks like bcavnaugh has it down see above post. I never used the tool until my machine was updated so I had to read a little further.

Intel must first decide if they will fix CVE-2017-5715 (branch target injection) for all processor families as this needs both firmware (microcode) and software (OS dependent) updates. After that all system vendors and hardware mfgs need to do decide if they will implement the Intel fix.
My X99 FTWK and all EVGA X99 is affected by CVE-2017-5715 without BIOS upgrade with Intel fixed microcode.
Lazy or not Lazy. That's not a question.
