Hello,

I'm trying to remove the BIOS password on the X79 Dark motherboard.
I am able to boot into WIN 10 from an OS SSD that I'm migrating from a previous system.

I'd like to access the BIOS to re-install a fresh OS, etc.

My process:

Turn off power
Unplug power cord from PSU
Turn the PSU to OFF via switch
Press the power button to dissipate remaining power
Remove CMOS battery
Wait 15 minutes ... (I've tried to press the red "CLR CMOS" button on the motherboard itself, and the external "CLR CMOS" on the IO panel side. Pressed it 10x or 10 seconds)(different scenarios)
Plug in the CMOS battery
Plug in the power cord for PSU
Press power button

I try to enter BIOS, and I'll continue to be prompted for a password screen

Also, have tried replacing the physical BIOS chip. Still no luck.

Any ideas? Thank you.

    Welcome to the forums.

Try BIOS Cracker 5.0 which is part of Hiren's Boot CD (and separately) on a bootable USB flash drive..Or, try reflashing the EVGA BIOS using the 'FPTDOS.BAT' command in a DOS environment with a bootable USB flash drive.

Instructions are included in the BIOS Cracker 5.0 download package.

If you want to create a bootable DOS USB flash drive, use Rufus which is more simple than creating a Windows 95/98 boot disk.

If you need help with flashing/playing around in DOS, lemme know.

    Good luck.
