Motherboard: EVGA X58 E758-A1 Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 280 CPU: i7-920 RAM: Corsair TR3X3G1600C8D (6x1GB) Power: Corsair 850W OS: W7 ultimate Monitor: Dell ultrasharp 24" Other: USB keyboard and USB mouse I've been using the parts listed above since I bought them in 2009. I wanted to upgrade my ram to 24GBs so I purchased CMZ24GX3M6A1600C9 (6x4GB) as I like Corsair. When I installed the new RAM the PC would not even get to the post screen or it would but freeze and not progress after that. I put the old RAM back in and it worked again. I decided to flash the BIOS to the newest release (83), as I hadn't upgraded the BIOS since I got it. Once I did that the motherboard recognised and was able to use all 24GBs of the new RAM. The problem is the PC keeps crashing, windows keeps bluescreening. I get a Machine_Check_Exception 0x0000009c or more often "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" 0x00000101 The uptime can vary anywhere from mere seconds to a few hours at most. I thought if I put the old RAM back in the error wouldn't happen, but it is. I downgraded the BIOS to 82 and tried both old and new RAM, neither solves the problem. I normally run my RAM at 1600, but I have tried the BIOS default and 1600 on both old and new RAM, still nothing helps. I am not overclocking anything, everything is stock frequencies and voltages. Please help, I'm at my wits end! I don't know what else could fix this problem besides getting a new motherboard, but I'd rather not spend so much money and have to basically de-construct then rebuild my PC. Anyone have any ideas?

Make sure you changed command rate to 2T, You may want to bump up Vcore for the 101 errors, and give Vtt a bump for the additional stress on the IMC ( Intagrated memory controler ) if not overclocking ( increasing Host freq from 133.3 I would try a +150, if your trying it with a 160 host freq and a 2:10 memory devider, for 1600 with a small OC , I would try +250, Note with that setting Uncore would need to be 20X and your new speed would be 3.36 with turbo on, your timing for that memory is 9,9,9,24,88 I think you could try loosing them a litt to see if that helps. try 9,11,9,24,88 also if you changed BIOS make sure your loading the new info, and not saving a profile. with these new BIOSES and a 920 make sure Turbo mode is on if you wnt it, BUT NOT TURBO PERFORMANCE ![](http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/KMoore4318/TurboPerformance.jpg) Vcore and Vtt ![](http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/KMoore4318/BIOSscreen4.jpg) Memory timing

Oh wow, I didn't expect to get such a detailed suggestion. Thanks so much! I'm going to try the settings like you suggested and post the results.

So I changed the voltages and settings like you suggested and it seems to be running fine now. Thank you so much! I never would have thought that I needed to change the timings and settings just to get it to run normally. Very odd indeed. Of course it could BSoD but I won't know until that happens. Hopefully it won't! Thanks again, I owe you big time!

hope it works out good for you, remember your pushing 24G of ram, on a system that had an original limit of 12G on a chip desined for 1060 memory speed, so some small adjustments may be necessary.

Ahhh poo! I got back from my trip today after leaving Wednesday night, lo' and behold the PC had rebooted. It still had the BSoD up from whenever it error'd out and it was a Machine_Check_Exception. I tried tinkering with different timings but none of them worked and I kept getting the 101 error about a clock interval. Here's my current voltages and BIOS settings. Anything I should change or could try? I would rather not have to buy a new motherboard. :( As a side note, when I bought the MoBo it was advertised that it supported up to 24 GBs of RAM. That's why I had so much initial frustration when it didn't work with this upgrade.

Reply to your PM, OK this is what I suggest and why, when I had Corsair memory It did not like anything above it's spec, I had corsair XMS3 so your memory should be a little better than mine. A 2:10 memory divider with a 160 host freq should put you at 1600, according to your screen shot your at 1603 not sure why you may want to try dropping from 160 to 159 that should put you at 1590 ( I really do not think this will make a difference as we are only talking 3 hrz) those three clocks shouldn't make a difference, But that is what they list as spec. your DimV for 1600 memory for corsair is 1.65, I just gave you what was listed as spec. Uncore must be at least 2X your memory divider so 20X for a 2:10, As for BSOD's if you get a 101 that is usually a sign you need more Vcore, if you get a 124 that is usually a sign you need more Vtt. BSOD Info: Increase Vcore if you see this BSOD. Increase VCORE or CPU VTT if you see this BSOD (you must test by bumping each voltage watching for a change to see which one is needing an increase). The timings I gave you were what My XMS three required you may be able to tighten and go to 8,8,8,24, BUT DO NOT DO THAT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STABLE at what I recommended, those settings set how much time the system allows before reporting an error, setting a 9 instead of a 8 allows a little more time. The reason I set with V droop and with a higher Vcore, is this lets your actual vcore swing with demand, but you may still need a touch more if your still getting 101's. Your speed step setting You may want to turn that off, It allows your CPU to downclock when demand drops so your 21x 160 would be 3.36 But at low demand your CPU multiplier is allowed to drop as low as 12, so you would be about 2.0 I suspect you are going to find you just need a touch more Vcore or Vtt.

Thanks again for such a detailed answer. With this information I'll keep playing around with the voltages and settings, maybe some combination will help. Also the BSoD I keep getting now is this: I looked it up and as you probably know, it's a pretty worthless BSoD. I'll keep trying to set different timings and voltages in the BIOS but if it still won't work by the end of the week I'm just going to get a new MoBo. Oddly enough it seems like the PC works as long as I use it, then once I go to sleep or work and let it sit there for a few hours it'll crash for some reason. Thanks for all the help though, it is appreciated.

With that one I would drop to a 2:8 memory devider and set uncore to 16X ; run the system for a while and see if you still get it. If the problem goes away at 1280 memory speed but comes back at 1600 , then you know your issue is memory speed related at that point your only options would be increse Vtt, add a small amount to DimmV, loosen timming more, or RMA the memory.
