I am trying get my x58 Classified system to boot from a M.2 drive that is on a PCI express card that is connected via cable to a SATA port on the X58 Classified motherboard.

Currently I can access the M.2 drive just fine after windows 10 has booted from another SATA drive. My objective is to get the system to boot from the M.2 drive, but so far I can't get the X58 bios to see the M.2 drive on PCI Express card, therefore it won't boot from the M.2 drive.

I realize that the X58 board is old, but it still works well for a lot of applications. Runs Windows 10 just fine and so far I am not had any compatibilities problems.

Here is the PCI Express card that I have installed. It has one M.2 1TB drive

The only thing I can recommend to you is to try the PCI Express card in another port. If the BIOs can't see the M.2 as a boot device you won't be able to use it as a boot device.

I’d also recommend using a different adapter such as this one... https://www.amazon.com/gp...il_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks all for the advice. It does look like there are more options that I can try. I've have gotten my money's worth from this x58 system.
