I just bought a X299 Dark Motherboard direct from EVGA and I am wanting to know if the board supports the Intel Core i9-10900X Cascade Lake CPU out of the box?

Thanks!

I'm under the impression that it should be shipped out from EVGA with the latest BIOS at the time, which is 1.19 as of now.

But they say that "Cascade Lake-X CPUs can boot into the BIOS with older BIOS versions, but will not function properly until updated to at least version 1.19", so it should at least be bootable enough to flash/update the BIOS if needed.

Hi Kram36,

I see here your X299 Dark has the latest BIOS.  It was other Motherboards that were sold prior to the 10 series launch that needed the update.  However, I see here, your product is not effected.

I have bought 4 new EVGA motherboards in the last12 months, 1 from Microcenter and 3 direct from EVGA.  NONE of them had a current BIOS, not even close.  Despite having a several versions old BIOS, my X299 mATX 2 board booted okay fine with a 10920X CPU installed and I was able to update the BIOS, no worries.  I have not setup my X299 Dark yet.  I assume its BIOS is old because the little USB drive for BIOS was several versions old.  But you can update the Dark's BIOS without a CPU, so again, no worries.

The bios was updated just like Peter said it would be on my board, it had bios 1.21 on it.

I RMA'd a board in January 2020 and got a replacement with the latest BIOS that supported CLX. However the battery was dead and needed replacement.
