Hello guys. I did order a brand new EVGA X299 FTW K to pair it up with my 9800X. The question is: Are those boards equipped with newer BIOS so that they are compatible with the new gen CPUs? I'm upgrading from a 3-years old system so I can't have a previous gen chip to do BIOS update and from what I've read the particular board doesn't have SPI flash capability, as the X299 Micro ATX 2 has.

Thanks in advance!

EVGA tech support has stated that they will work well enough so that you can update the BIOS. Just don't plan on overclocking (RAM or CPU) until you update the BIOS.

I can live with that until they update the BIOS. So, there wont be any incompatibility issues if I install my 9800X on the board before upgrading the BIOS right? That’s my big concern.

    Thanks again!

Did you read post #33 made by EVGATech_LeeM? Because your response leads me to believe that you didn't.

Truth is I didn't notice and as you can see I did post in that post. EVGATech_LeeM hopped in and told me that it won't need a BIOS update to boot on the 9800X but I should update the BIOS in order to OC, same thing as you said. That's a relief. Thank you for the info :)
