Is any one else having a problem where it seems like the mouse goes to sleep but wont wake up?

lately its been happening to me a lot. Watch a youtube video thats maybe 10 or 15 minutes long and the mouse seems to go to sleep but some times it wont come back, i'll get one white light on the side in front of the num pad or some times it'll be totally dead and other times it'll be lit up an cycling colors but still no response to movement or clicking any thing.

other occasions i'll get the disconnect reconnect sound a few times in windows until it eventually just gives up.
manually unplugging and plugging it back in seems to get it to work for a while.

i thought it was power and/or bios settings but nothings changed. i also installed the latest software and made sure the firmware was up to date and it was.
this started just before christmas and has gotten progressively worse.

any thoughts?

I found this on the web.

Fix 1: Allow your keyboard and mouse to wake up your PC

Sometimes your computer will not wake up from sleep mode simply because your keyboard or mouse has been prevented from doing so. ... On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time, then type devmgmt. msc into the box and press Enter.

Go to Mice and other pointing devices / select "Power Management" / check mark "allow this device to wake the computer.

yea i checked that one before i posted too.

i knew once i asked about it, it would stop and so far it has. one of those things i guess.

although now that i have said that i am sure it'll act up again.
nothings changed on the system and windows updates have been off this whole time so if it happens again i'll come back and post

If you're on AMD motherboard you may want to check for bios update. There we well documented issues where USB will just cut out randomly.

yea i tried the bios update once it started acting up again and it didnt change.
although i regained some control over my fan speeds that disappeared when ryzen 3xxx came out so it wasnt in vain (so much quieter now)

its the only thing thats hooked up over usb thats doing it. my Z15, PS4 controller,, external NVME, Epilogue GB Operator and several usb optical drives arent cutting out at all.
I usually only have the keyboard and mouse hooked up.
i dont have them all hooked up at the same time either so it shouldnt be over taxing any usb power circuits.

    any other thoughts?

I’ve been struggling with disconnects too.

My problem is/was: the mouse would shut off and usb error.
I could turn the leds on by pressing the buttons and cycle the profiles but the sensor wouldn’t work.

After paying more attention to when the disconnects were occurring. I noticed the mouse would disconnect when I adjusted my keyboard position.
So I strapped it further down on my keyboard cable, straightening it out, and letting the mouse cable snake across the desk.

Since doing that my mouse hasn’t been disconnecting. It even goes in and out of sleep normally.
I haven’t rebooted or updated anything. During this amount of time the mouse would definitely error by now. But it hasn’t yet.

My G600 cable was strapped close on my keyboard and made a U shape.

Maybe the X series cables are defective or frail?

yea i was thinking that for a little while but i had something interesting happen this morning.

when i started my computer up the mouse worked for a few seconds in windows but stopped lights all off and everything, nothing new has happened before, so i shook the hell out of it and nothing changed, wiggled cords and connections and what not, nothing. i clicked all the buttons on it one at a time and nothing until i hit the DPI button and one of the white LEDs in front of the numbers on the side lit up for a second. but thats all it did.

so something is alive in there but seems to be getting a bit confused.

i'll wait and see if there are any b stock/ wednesday special and order another one and see if it keeps happening.

i dont know what the warranty is on these but i'll need a mouse any way if i send it off...

This happening to me as well first signs were pointer would not move or move than stop all of a sudden. Mouse go to sleep and would not wake up no matter what buttons I click on. this being going on for several days from 2 weeks ago. Now I was watching a video in Youtube went to use mouse to click another video would not respond and all sudden all lights went of and windows gave massage USB device you have recently connected stop working and cannot be reinitialized. So got up and did unplug mouse from USB and reconnected and it started working again. This calls for a RMA hands down. But to me sounds like eighter firmware update is due or simpler regular update need it. BTW Mouse should have option to actually when wanting to change time to go sleep work. ( Option too to never let it go sleep. last words I do not use sleep mode on my PC I turn off and ON fully everytime.

Same issue with mine, random usb disconnects mouse, sometimes it reconnects instantly,
other times I have to remove usb and reconnect.
Tried everything, updated software and firmware and still happens.
Bought the mouse super cheap on sale so hardly worth the cost and effort to RMA.
Surprised EVGA would put out a product with such issues and not even attempt to remedy it.

i RMAd mine before the new firmware came out and i got it back late last week.
so far its not giving me any problems, It wants to do a firmware update but i'm holding off for a little bit because i think the last time it had one is when this problem started.

i saw your post Sneaky and i went through the same things with polling, usb ports all that stuff and it sounds exactly like mine

Chiming in and want to say I have been experiencing the same issue. Also come to think of it this started happening lately within the last firmware update. It is super annoying but so far it will just disconnect and reconnect. X570 mobo here and latest BIOS so I do think it is a problem with the mouse. Hopefully, with more people acknowledging this it will get addressed.

Experiencing same issue. Mouse was under warranty so I was able to RMA it. Received a replacement (a refurbished mouse, instead of a new one ), same issue still happening. Mouse disconnects at random times. I don't have this issue with any other devices connected to my pc, so I don't think the issue is with my computer/usb ports.

Had the same issue. Chucked the first one because I was pretty sure that it had a faulty connection where the USB cable meets the mouse and bought a new one, but I'm still having the same issue.

I noticed the other day when it disconnected/reconnected itself that my motherboards LED strip briefly reset itself to default red and then went back to normal operation as soon as the mouse reconnected and lit up again. I'm wondering if maybe the MSI Mystic Light led management stuff might be interfering with the EVGA lighting control.

Is anyone else who's having the same trouble using any sort of RGB lighting software along with the EVGA mouse/keyboard software too?

I was having a problem with the Z20 keyboard randomly disconnecting but with the 1.0.17.0 version of EVGA Unleash that recently came out both of my systems haven't needed the keyboard to be unplugged and plugged back in to get it to work. It's a different product I know but it seems like the drivers being updated seems to be fixing the issue for people for all the products.

My replacement is acting up again.
i think its strange that it takes so long for it to start disconnecting, i wonder if one of the ICs on it are logging positions or amount of clicks or something and it overflows. it just seems so strange that it takes a while for it to act up.

first time was last week, so i set it to never go to sleep and that seemed to work until about 5 minutes ago when it did what it used to do before and came back on but no ones home, had to disconnect reconnect it to get it working again. i imagine its going to get progressively worse.

i haven't updated ANYTHING on my computer since my last post, i see a lot of people are having this problem now and i see reports of a update to the software and the firmware. i'll give em a try

just to update i've updated everything this time and its been updated for about a week and i am still getting disconnects.
it took a few days but its started happening and the frequency is increasing as time goes on. first it was once or twice a week, now its at least once a day. If its going to be like the one before that i sent in for RMA i'm sure it'll happen several times, some time dozens, every day.

the whole "AMD bios bug" i think is BS as well, considering i didnt have a problem with my previous mouse disconnecting like this one.
not only that but the boards in question are b550/x570 boards and i'm using a b450

EVGA UNLEASH RGB v1.0.19 seems to have made it worse.
It DCs immediately after boot into windows now, some times repeatedly.

had a think about it and i restarted into my bios (asrock b450m UEFI) and let it sit a while and had no disconnect and reconnect issues.
i'm going to try running without the software and see what happens now

Re: X15 unresponsive at random times 2022/07/09 16:12:11 (permalink)
i gave up and got a naga trinity so i could keep that circular ish keypad on the side, i had a hex v2 before this that was very old and worn out (the support on the underside of the mouse buttons were cracking through the top) but the x15 was more comfortable. how ever having it just quit at random and every time you turn your system on makes for a very frustrating time.

its a bummer but its just happening so often now, i re-tested in UEFI for longer and got the same result eventually, although it did take longer. I dont have any other systems to test on, they are all packed up.

my parting thought on this is why does it happen progressively more and more often? why does it get worse?
My RMA was fine for a long while, then i got one DC, then another and then exponentially gets worse?
Is there and IC in there thats over flowing? Is there a line of code thats not cleaning up garbage collection and causing these to fail?

    its strange
