I think the RMA rates most likely has an impact on the price increase if we're looking at Supply vs Demand.

If they're reporting their RMA stock has been depleted, then the number of RMAs on these cards may be higher than Nvidia willing to admit publicly.  I'm assuming EVGA would have to prioritize their stocks to RMA customers first vs "For Sale" stock and having limited supply of these cards that impact RMA would definitely drive the price up.

Hoggle
I don’t think that the trade war would have anything to do with this since that would only make sense if they went into effect after the release of the card. That fact said it’s best to stay on topic. It’s probsbly more of a supply and demand since the cards are not in stock long.

It wouldn't because tariffs are suspended and they are actively talking.

I called EVGA and spoke with Gabriel in customer service yesterday to see why the prices went up as I've been waiting for a 2080ti FTW to be in stock since last month, they stated due to the tariffs.

*edit - at least what they want us to believe.  Not sure how true the statement was.

Any comments that mention trump will be deleted. We don't need this thread to turn political.

Ok, whatever. But in all fairness...that IS the reason the price went up. Tariffs which were caused by him.

Meh, I get more than $200 extra each paycheck with the tax cuts so it is a net win ;)

That said I just saw a prototype of the Kingpin in a jay2cents video which had me excited to get it... was hoping for a sub $1800 price point but now I'm worried!

Can you link ther video in which you saw the kingpin?

The tarrifs haven't even went into effect, and don't until March, and may not happen. So that's a lie. Good to know evga isn't being transparent with us.

I don't know how Nvidia thinks this is a good long term strategy. I think it will backfire on them. However, I am not sure this is Nvidia raising these prices, other manufactures prices look normal to me. Even the FE is still the same normal price. This looks like EVGA jacking up the prices.

EDIT: I can buy a FE for less money than the equivalent EVGA card now, 100 dollars less. If I were to buy a 2080Ti (and I am seriously considering not doing so anymore) then it will be the FE directly from Nvidia.

maybe because they cant keep these cards in stock as it is so the logical thing is to increase the price. simple supply/demand

Put them on the shelves and they will buy.....this was proven when nv starting producing Titan Cards.....
..Ti's are now Titans......
....here Canada the cheapest 2080Ti is a Zotac at $1689 CAD .......Evga Cards (no stock anywhere)..wil likely be around $1850 - $1950.. CAD......some Asus Cards and MSI range from $1800 - north of $2200 CAD.....

for a couple of 2080Tis and Water Blocks north of $4.5K ......thanks nv for a failed RTX release (on my part).....my 1080ti's w FC EK Blocks hammer thru any game on a Dell Ultra Wide 3440*1440p 120 Hz Gsync monitor with max temps below 39c....and frame rates well north of 75 FPS.....

......I never even considered a Titan Card when there were released...780Ti and then 1080ti (skipped the 9xx Series).....I'll defintely skip this RTX Series and wait until I can pay $1K CAD or less for a couple of Cards with substantial improvements over the present Pascal Cards...and perhaps more than 1 game to take advantage of the new Tech....

.....but as I said...theres plenty of folks that will buy these Cards.....if you have a 1080Ti SLi arrangement,,,you'd be better off waiting until the next Gen in another 12-18 months

It is very strange that they would price-gouge with cards that have such a high failure rate.

I contacted EVGA and they said the price increase is due to demand for the product and the price adjusts according to stock levels.

Vote with your wallet, don't like Nvidia and it's partners price gouging you. Don't buy the product, until the price goes back down.

That’s what I thought reading that just now. Unfortunately, it boils down to us, the consumers, having no control over the prices. The only two choices we have is to buy or not buy. An item is worth only what people are willing to pay

Great advice.....I always have very good Hardware and always jump on new stuff.....but I'll gladly pass on this...next Gen will be far more "mature" with RT ........

Perhaps the top end Card.....especially if everyone keeps buying these 2080Ti 's ;)
.....BUT perhaps next Gen Cards will have a mid range card decently priced BUT with far better performance than a 1080Ti ;) ....
$1700 CAD for Ti is absolutely ridiculous .....$1K CAD is my cap ...this 20XX Series is the first time Ive seen xx80Ti / xx80 leap well above $1.3K CAD ......oh well..Im god for awhile yet anyhow....thats why we need AMD to come out with something that blows nv out of there socks.....then we'll see prices becoming reasonable....they need some competition again....

To be fair, we have to understand the costs of R&D and the adjustments of inflation play a big role too.  We are closer to the end of Moore's Law than we were yesterday so therefore prices will rise because of it unless something else shows up to change that direction.

I also still think the prices are too jacked for all of this but going based on the timeline of pricing dating back 10+ years ago.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

Can't blame anyone for the prices to go up except those wealthy people who would pay for these overpriced cards. Good for EVGA...

Vega 64 had a MSRP of 499 and the 1080 had a MSRP of 549.  590/580 had MSRP of 250 and 1060 had a MSRP of 250. Vega 56 had a MSRP of 399 and 1070ti had a MSRP of 449. Seems pretty competitive to me.

The next gen is the exactly problem, AMD don't make the same push on GPU they made on CPU.

If Radeon VII presented at CES was a complete line up of GPUs from the entry level to the top (even they don't get close of 2080TI) rather than a single expensive refresh, the next launchs will be much more "fair".

So the next gen is cursed (again) to be dominated and manipulated by just one company.

I no longer believe in AMD for GPUs, now the only real hope is the Intel's Artic Sound in 2020.

Why wouldn't you believe in AMD when all their current products match Nvids in performance and beat in price (minus the 2080/1080ti off course)? Is it just because they don't have a $1200 card out yet to match the 2080ti?

AMD hasn't been competitive for a decade...you'll be waiting a while.

Vega 64 had a MSRP of 499 and the 1080 had a MSRP of 549.  590/580 had MSRP of 250 and 1060 had a MSRP of 250. Vega 56 had a MSRP of 399 and 1070ti had a MSRP of 449. Seems pretty competitive to me.

Had to double check but it seems this information is wrong.

GTX 1080 sometime in Feb-March 2017 had a price cut and MSRP was $499.

The Vega 64 launched on August 2017 or so at $499

It made no sense, logically, to get a Vega 64 when not only did it run hotter, but consumed more wattage. The drivers were not optimized and I remember the Vega 64 not being better than the 1080.

And then next gen will cost even more

Perhaps the top end Card.....especially if everyone keeps buying these 2080Ti 's ;)

Im talking about launch day MSRP, not price cuts. I had a launch day 1080 and it had driver problems and was toasty like any other launch day FE. I also had a Vega launch day FE and the temps were nearly identical as was the FPS +/- a few. My original reply wasn't in regards to what was/is logical to certain people.

The bottom line:
last year the 1080Ti was $889 CAD with a Titan running around $1400 CAD
This year..2080Ti is twice the cost......sucks! What happened to a $999 CAD 2080Ti and a 20xx Titan at $1600 CAD?
......btw Im no AMD fanboy...also been Intel / NV ....but I do know you can never count AMD out of the game....many are happily using a Threadripper platform with a Vega 64 Card.....I believe AMD's Catalyst Drivers have come a long ways over the years....but dont "quote" me......
