Hi, so essentially i just opened up my 3080 to install into my system, however when i looked at it while it was in my case, i noticed there was a scuff mark? at first i thought it was some sort of residue or something and tried rubbing it off with a microfiber and nope. The material is definitely scuffed or something.

I'm super bummed because I'm pretty ocd about stuff like that, especially when i spend so much $$$ i was looking forward to using this thing...

is it worth trying to get an RMA?

Why would these guys send out a $900 card that's scuffed that noticeably? That card is blatantly scuffed but they sent it out anyways. That wasn't damaged in shipping either.

Where did you get the 3080 from? Evga other retailer, or RMA ship back?

Has the plastic been removed? These ship with plastic covering that part to prevent scratches and scuffs. It can be a bit hard to see if applied really well. Anyway, try pulling up a corner and then remove the plastic if it's there and the scuff will be gone.

Is the card working correctly? Was there no protective film on the card? I would write a support ticket asking if maybe you got a used card.

The Card is working correctly and the film protector is off. looks like it could be a factory defect.

I really hope i didnt spend that much on a used card :/

The card is back in the box now, submitting a support ticket and hopefully they can help me out.

It sounds like someone in the warehouse might have made a mistake let evga support try to resolve the issue. At least you have a 3080 ftw3.

What kind of port royal score are you getting? I would not give up a card with a good chip.

I would be making sure it's not a plastic film. I had a card that I thought I had removed all the film from but found some that I had almost missed missed over the RGB.

As for an RMA if the card is new it should be replaced with a brand new one so no risk of getting a used one and it's not like the wait for an return will be months like the queue system.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

I'm definitely grateful that I have one. I just spent a lot of money and just expected a product that was without physical flaws like everybody else's. Plus I'm sure it will hurt the resale value when I inevitably sell it in a few years. I just really hope I don't end up getting a used one now once the RMA goes through.

Totally get that...I wasn't intending to be "pfft you should be happy you got one and it's working!"....just an observation about my personality....I tend to care about function and not looks (in terms of ...most things)...

Hahaha "(in terms of ...most things)" no worries, your side of the coin is completely understandable as well. Function over form

I was debating with myself if it was even worth the hassle, but knowing me, it would bother me knowing that it has an imperfection. (Doesn't help that my PC is on my desk right next to me, so id be looking at it alot) I'm cursed with caring about such things!!

Another option is to ask customer service if they can send you a new shroud.   I requested for a new shroud with black lips to replace my red, and got it in 2 days... but the fast shipping could be because I'm an hour away from EVGA.   It came with instructions with pics on how to replace it... very easy to replace.  The only hard part was disconnecting the RGB connector... but it's not too difficult.

How did I not think of this.... I just saw Steve from gamers nexus do a teardown of the ftw 3 and the shroud looks super easy to take apart and re-install. I would definitely prefer that.. I submitted a ticket already but once they get back to me I'm sure we can somehow arrange me to get a new shroud instead of RMA'ing it.

x2, did you check if there is film on the shroud?
and was the film protector on the card when you took it out of the box?

Yeah just took it out to triple check and there is no film, the material itself is stained / scuffed unfortunately. & they had no shrouds left so I have to send my card in. Oh well :(

Well that's super odd. You had to check if the plastic film was there so I assume that means that you didn't peel it off or don't remember doing so. If you didn't peel it off and it wasn't there then... well I don't know. That's odd.

I did take all the film off when I opened the box, when it was in my case is when I noticed the imperfection.

I thought maybe I missed a piece of film but nope, I seem to have gotten it all off

I don't understand why they couldn't just put you in a queue for a shroud... That way you can enjoy your GPU while you wait for shroud to be in stock.    When I requested for a black accent shroud, they also told me they were out of stock and put me in a queue...  I was surprised to get it in the mail 2 days later... but not surprised with EVGA's customer support.   I've always had a good experience with EVGA.
