Personal Opinion...
WoW ran its course awhile back... it's like "Walking Dead", there are only so many evil doers ("I'M NEGAN *duh*") and zombies that you can go through before people say "this garbage again?" Kudos to Blizzard for having the vision for the original game (I left after BC, which I think was the best expansion Liche King was the suck). I mean... they're still offering free character levels lmao I think this is where the older generation has gone back to Vanilla and said "I enjoy this"... it's because the game WAS more social back then, and there were online friends and relationships that developed because within the grinding, we filled the time with cheesy jokes, personal commentary and assisting guild mates. I went back to Vanilla for this... then realized, it was still fun, but that was a point in time (technology and gaming atmosphere) that you just can't recreate. Vanilla has been salted with the youths who are complete *pricks* (am I allowed to say that on here?) and some really divisive gaming styles that take aware from the Vanilla design.
I understand why retail gets a lot of praise... it's EASY, everything is HANDED TO YOU, you can SOLO just about everything, NOTHING is social, and it's PURE EYE CANDY. Seriously... it's like *crack* for ADHD or socially challenged people. I just wish Blizzard would spend those resources on a new brand, come out with a marquee title (instead of Diablo 18, now with demons who fart at you, and you can SMELL IT). Their titles were showing their age a decade ago... time to move on Blizzard... this is why several others passed them by!
