Hey all I just updated to Windows 10 October Update 1809 and now my DGTuner Software version 1.0.5 will not start for any reason with the following error with my DG-77.

Everything was obviously working fine on the 1803 build and all my USB ports and lightning still seem to be working fine.  I reinstalled DG Tuner v1.0.5 and my Chipset drivers for good measure and tested all my front panel USB ports which are all operational.  This seems like an update required to DG Tuner but I could be wrong.  Just posting to bring the issue to light.  Build specs below.

Any information or insight are greatly appreciated.

I would recommend a Fresh Install of the Windows 10 1809 or any Version Upgrade of Windows 10.

Yeah typically I would do this as an immediate recourse but everything else is working fine.  I'll hold off a few days to see if anyone else has the issue before throwing 1809 on a thumb drive and reloading.

I reached out to EVGA Customer Support which was great as always.  They took some additional information and said they intend to send it up to their product engineering team to take a look.  Thanks to guys for always having time to listen and understand problems.  This is why I keep buying from EVGA.

I got some feedback from Alan today and he said that they tested it as well and are getting the same error.

They have pushed it up to the product group who works on the software for a fix.  If I get any additional follow up I will be sure to post.

Hopefully the fix is coming soon because looking at non matching colors on my lights in the case is making my OCD go nuts, lol.

Appreciate everyone over at EVGA hopping on this so quickly.  I'm glad that it is software issue that can be reproduced rather than something with the hardware.  I'm sure it has something to do with HID Device enumeration being changed in an updated dll in the Windows Update.  At least that's what my Software Engineering brain would say.

In general 1809 has some issues with most of the Software from EVGA.
New OS needs time to get the Bugs Out. This OS has some Hidden Major Changes to boot

I installed todays windows 10 update
re-installed the DG Tuner for my DG-8 case
and still fails to install with the "Can't find HD usb device"
I tried both the versions available on the EVGA website.

another note to this story is that after the Windows Oct. update installation last Tuesday, upon initial boot of my system I get a blue screen crash regarding
    "Driver Power State Failure".
again, this only occurs upon initial boot and once my system had been restarted it hasn't occurred again until the next cold boot.
I will be checking again tomorrow morning to see if this is still happening on initial boot after todays Windows Update.

I went back to the previous version of windows 10 and low and behold...
DG Tuner came back on without issue!
I'm certain I won't be having a blue screen tomorrow at boot either.
I'll be waiting a couple weeks before attempting another try at the Windows Oct update, maybe making it a January update :)
maybe winter will place the bugs into stasis

This will be a problem with the way Microsoft treats it's Desktop user base.
They only think Mobile now, they are or are trying to become Apple.
Everyone Blames the OEM when it is 100% Microsoft.
Now the OEM Companies have to Reinvent the Wheel with Each Windows 10 Upgrade.

This behavior is consistent with what I've seen. Definitely points to a deprecated library or .dll that does HID interaction. Should be easy enough to step through the source code and identify where a library call or load fails. I agree with bcavnaugh that the operating system providers need to do a better job of documenting changes with libraries when new updates are dropped but they gear update notes towards the general purpose user and not the power users that we are.

I tried everything under the sun, i can't make DG Tuner work with October update. Will continue to experiment.

    Cheers!

If I can be of any help to your team by privately sending you a config file or anything of the sort, I would be happy to do so.

As I'm sure you are aware, this is definitely related to the Windows 10 October Update (1809).  The hardest part of this is that without the software, we have no way to control the fans short of doing away with the EVGA built-in controller, so my fans are currently stuck at 50% unless I use a different controller or extend the fan cables to reach the Mobo.  I'm at least thankful that I replaced the stock ones with a higher static pressure and about 3x the max CFM so they do a decent job even at 50%, but it's still a shame.  I went through the process of updating my BIOS and all Mobo drivers, etc. in the event the primary cause was related to how this major update interacted with the hardware on the board.  I took this step as I had a few hiccups with my TT Floe Riing 360 fan controller after the update, which I was able to fix this way.  However, it did not remedy the EVGA controller issue, nor did attempting to reinstall the DG Tuner software.

EVGA support is generally excellent as well, so having this drag out feels extra disappointing, especially since I'm sure many of us updated to 1809 for the dark Windows Explorer theme, so there are likely a lot more people affected by this than are here on the forums.

To end on a positive note, this case (DG-86) is wonderfully engineered.  I've yet to be disappointed by it and it seems that everything has a purpose and if it's not useful to me it can be removed, which I greatly appreciate.  The fit and finish along with quality look and feel are remarkable.  My only recommended option would be to make a removable panel above the rear hatch.  I found that cutting that out of the case (very carefully) improved cooling slightly, even after the upgraded fans and tinkering with intake/exhaust settings.  With a radiator filling most of the top section, it's nice to have a secondary free flowing outlet for air to ensure the static pressure inside the case doesn't build causing heat pockets.  That was exactly the issue I had before replacing the stock fans and creating that vent up top.  The air above the 1080Ti and under the radiator was stagnant and super hot compared to the rest of the case.  That no longer happens and the modifications have dropped both the GPU and CPU temps by roughly 14 - 18 degrees F.

Again, really looking forward to this being fixed in an update!!

Windows 1809 gave me the option of going back to a previously installed version which was 1803.
It was located in either the windows recovery or the windows defender portion of settings.
I'm still looking here for a resolve to the issue as windows 1809 was also creating a blue screen crash at cold boot too, figured I would wait until windows has an update for 1809 that resolves everyone's
issue with the EGVA Tuner issue before attempting another installation.

#1 Download an 1803 .iso file.
#2 Use rufus to create a bootable usb.

Note: Whatever .iso you download make sure you check the .iso file with hashcalc to make sure it's the original .iso. The sha1 value for 1803 is 08fbb24627fa768f869c09f44c5d6c1e53a57a6f.

Looking in the windows forums I see that you have a 10 day window to be able to "go back" to your previous windows version...
