Separately, Microsoft has blocked the Windows 10 1809 update for some systems due to a compatibility problem with Intel Display Audio device drivers. The issue causes "excessive processor demand and reduced battery life" if the affected system is updated. The compatibility problem affects systems with Intel Audio Display device driver, intcdaud.sys, versions 10.25.0.3 to 10.25.0.8. Customers with affected Intel drivers will see a 'What needs your attention' warning message outlined in this support document for KB4465877. So nothing is ever certain no matter how many beta testers there are. Always back up your important data before any major upgrade.

They should only install a basic VGA Driver and that would end this problem once and for all.
Yes then the End User would be required to download the support Graphics Driver but then this is part of owning a Desktop or Laptop IMO.
Then then put the Beta Testing of their Hardware on themselves and not Microsoft, after all it is their Hardware.

I have the problem in a different way. My system got corrupted when updating the Nvidia drivers for my newly acquired EVGA 1080ti Hybrid SC2  . It deleted my current user profile and used the administrator profile as my main windows profile  . I might require a fresh install of windows 10.

I really feel for that guy who lost 20+ years of files in the blink of an eye. While this is completely inexcusable from Microsoft, everyone should set up a backup system of some sort. I take nightly snapshots of my PC since I’ve had infinite boot loop issues in past Windows 10 updates. I can never be too sure anymore.

I could have sworn this is what the "Windows old" file is for? Can't you go back there and get what you lost? If not, have you not learned by now to backup ANYTHING that you do not want to permanently lose? I mean, your drive could have died and you would lose everything, because your dumb... did not back it up!

I have copies of important files stuff like family pictures and what not on 3 different computers in different parts of the house.
If you have back up in the room with the computer and god forbid have a fire, you can have both destroyed.
Should make a back up and keep it off site. I do this cause years ago we had a house fire and several family albums were destroyed.
Those photos are gone forever.
Life is too short to carry a cheap pocket knife

This is why I never try to be the early adopter of any OS. Often you find things like this or problems like increase battery drain on a cell phone after an update that needs to be patched. Normally though after about a month things are stable unless you are the IT guy for an office and then sometimes they run a generation of Windows behind because of stability being better.

Yeah, with pictures and non-sensitive data, there really is no reason not to just use a cloud service to back that stuff up.

Also this is really not a Windows 10 Update Problem but is a Windows 10 Upgrade Problem. It would be simple if it was only and update using a Service Pack like in the Old Days.

Funny prior to this update, I was getting random green streak lines when I had Gsync for Windowed Mode and sometimes BSODs. Since turning that off and only allowing for full screen, I don't get those streaks anymore but than again, more than half my games are in Windowed mode.

Just an FYI. I've never had a "Gsync" issue with any of the Win10 versions. I've used them all. I only use fullscreen mode for gaming btw...
