Will LHR cards have a lower MSRP? RTX 3080 Ti LHR = $500?

I'm just curious if there will be any adjustment to the pricing of the LHR cards since they (supposedly) won't be practical for mining Ethereum.  Without the nerf they would do about $10/day mining.

Resale value is clearly going to be down.  I'd hesitate to pay over $500 for a 3080 Ti or any card with a reduced hash rate.

What's next, a ban on content creation with "gaming" cards, you have to buy a Quadro if you're going to make money from your card?  Kinda sus.

Keep on dreaming, component and semiconductor shortage at all time high and you think they will lower the price?

Well if you could otherwise make $1000 in 100 days hashing on the card, don't you think they should lower the price accordingly?

No, because if it’s cheaper than it gives miners more of an incentive to just keep buying more cards.

The card was never an investment to begin with, nVidia did not make the RTX cards for that purpose or implied that.
CMP cards, yes; RTX/GTX cards, no.
It may matter to you but it is a non-factor when it comes to MSRP pricing. Secondary market you may see mining capable 3080 costing more than 3080Ti LHR at some point, but no way for MSRP.
This is perhaps the most delusional post I have seen here

Disagree.  Higher prices with brought in with Turing were always justified by the price support of mining.  Ampere continued that price trend.  Now they plan to cut out that price support but keep the higher prices.  Crazy.

Cards are going for upwards of quadruple msrp and you think them keeping prices the same is crazy. If anything lowering the prices when they don't have to would be crazy. It would be nice, but none of these companies are in business to be nice.

mining is not the purpose of gtx or rtx cards asking for them to lower prices by 50% for the loss of a secondary thing they can do is like asking for 30% off of a car because it does not have does not have a turbo yeah it would be nice to have but it was not what made up that percentage of the cost

The 3080 Ti is released by nvidia to counter amd's 6900XT. 6900XT MSRP is 999$ and a lot of sources on the net are reporting the 3080 Ti MSRP will be this as well.

But these prices are MSRP so EVGA models will be at a higher price. Also the demand is probably going to be insane so it will be crazy hard to get one, so most people probably wont be able to do so.

This means you'll probably see the 3080 Ti sold for a bit less than what you can find custom 3090 cards in the market right now, so around 2000-2500$ i guess!

For 500$ you might be able to buy an old 1080 Ti if you're lucky

I figured the point of LHR was to make it less appealing to miners, if the cost effective price for mining is $500, and it's listed at $1000, miners are less likely to buy it, while gamers will still do so, assuming the gaming market can hold that price on it's own (and I'd guess that it will, unless all the mark-up/scalping has been purely for mining)

Even with 3060, the markup is still in the 60-100% range, and it's not even easy to mine on (must have PCIE3 X8) in quantity...

Yeah it's more of a thought experiment than anything.  Obviously there's not going to be a price break, but it's a shame they aren't offering a hash version of the 3080 Ti.  Makes it hard to justify a hashable 3090 for $1500 vs. a low hash 3080 Ti for $1000, etc.

As far as Nvidia is concerned, if you're looking for mining equipment, they have a CMP card to sell you.

It'll still be more than a 3080 new, eBay prices might be less than the 3080 but gamers still want the Ti.

Besides the whole mining topic, why the check a TI card should be less expensive than a non-Ti card? It is obviously that the TI will have more gaming power and that is what are paying for. When everything is working as planed you will have less competition from the miners buying these cards and so you only have to fight with all the gaming oriented folks to get one in the range of msrp. But don't expect that the msrp will be lower than the msrp of the last generation top of the line TI card. USD 1200 was the 2080Ti and don't expect the 3080Ti to get a lower msrp...

LOL!  3080 Ti  Founders Edition / Reference with a low hash rate for $1200 will be a total ripoff!

People can still mine other coins with the lower hash rate. If its a lower cost card then they will simply mine something like ergo and make a pretty penny.

When the RTX 4070 comes out in October 2022, some clowns on Reddit will say the 3080 Ti is worth $350.  And they'll be right.

For sure, once the new generation is announced (unless the shortage is still as bad in Oct 2022 as it is now), the market value will drop quite a bit. That's why people who decided to sit this generation out are probably the biggest winners in this whole situation

I would sit out if i had at least 20 series card or some 1080ti, however im with 970 and it kinda struggles.

Still struggling with my old 970 :D

I take it you've never bought an expensive GPU before.  You can't sell them for $1200 if they are going to be worth $350 a year later.

Your lack of logic over multiple threads is... alarming. Why would a 3080Ti have the same price as a 3070? Would that mean you sell 3070Ti at 350?
Since all cards are getting LHR versions, all of them are effected the same way, making non-LHR cards just be more expensive, not the other way around.

Glad to hear we've got an expert here.

LHR = DIFFERENT PART NUMBER.  ENDS IN -LR

Should sell for much less as it's disposable.

ENDS IN -LR

Should sell for much less as it's disposable.

so gpu that can be be sold and used after the first person upgrades is disposable comparied to the dedicated mining gpus that once a miner is done with cant be reused as they have no video outputs?
