For some reason the first gpu in FAH is actually the 2nd gpu counting from the cpu on the motherboard.
Don't know if I caused this somehow but both of my machines have gpu reversed in FAH client.
If I pause either gpu the temps on Precision shows me which one has been paused...
Thoughts?

I guess it doesn't really matter.
My cpu was in the third position when I reinstalled, it's slot, and it drove me NUTS...so I deleted em all and reinstalled them all...
I just discovered the gpu mixup the other day and I am copping....lol
Thanks for letting me know

I think it has to do with Device ID and how folding at home interprets the information.  I really can't remember 100% because it has been a long time since I have been able to look at the client and precision or afterburner.

I know I've seen things like precision and other OC software mix them up as well, some ancient shortcoming man has been battling since the dawn of time... or so it seems sometimes.

I know on one computer that Precision got it right because it only calls the second card a Geforce RTX 2060(Rog Strix 2060) and it identifies the one in the first slot as Geforce RTX 2060 XC Ultra.
I guess it recognized the EVGA product line..

It's simply a matter of PCI layout.
If you check you info/log on advanced control you can see your GPU bus location on the pcie chain. And the matching cuda and OpenCL ids.
It really depends on how your motherboard slices up the pci lanes and how it routes them.

I thought it was best to put the first GPU in the slot closest to the cpu, and I though they would have given it the lowest number..
I will try and find those details in the log...
GPUs: 2
06:57:27:          GPU 0: Bus:4 Slot:0 Func:0 NVIDIA:7 TU106 [Geforce RTX 2060]
06:57:27:          GPU 1: Bus:3 Slot:0 Func:0 NVIDIA:7 TU106 [Geforce RTX 2060]
06:57:27:  CUDA Device 0: Platform:0 Device:0 Bus:3 Slot:0 Compute:7.5 Driver:10.1
06:57:27:  CUDA Device 1: Platform:0 Device:1 Bus:4 Slot:0 Compute:7.5 Driver:10.1
06:57:27:OpenCL Device 1: Platform:1 Device:0 Bus:3 Slot:0 Compute:1.2 Driver:432.0
06:57:27:OpenCL Device 2: Platform:1 Device:1 Bus:4 Slot:0 Compute:1.2 Driver:432.0
First two entries have the bus backwards and after that it is in order
The bus is reversed...

My Rig Nibbler has 3 GPU ... to figure out which GPU / Slot - was which for OC .... EVGA Precision Position VS Folding slot number

I just paused 1 GPU at a time .... & found the Precision GPU that then down clocked to match being paused

Note: if you Manually remove a Slot ... then re-enable (manually reload the slot) - the Folding Slot Position/ Assignment can Move

RTX Project EVGA X99 FTWK-5930K 2xEVGA2080Ti EVGA-1200P2  Nibbler EVGA X99 3-GPU Water Loop 1600P2  AIO Folding  X99 2x1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid, 1200P
Thank You for Your Support

That is how I fixed the cpu position i had started reusing it and it put itself in 3rd position
The brain can default to the expected location ..After 30 mil I am going to be doing some cleaning up
Thks

Good info. I'm going to need to know this as my gpu count increases so I know which one to pause folding so I can game.
