There's just nonstop people posting spam in threads with nothing to actually contribute for the past few days because of the new card drop.  It's great deleting those subscription emails that just have an emote in them.

Yeah the email notifications are insane thats for sure xD

I don't know why but I hope they whip him with a wet noodle and make him volunteer to mod the forums for 48 hours with no sleep and no pay.

Would of been better to charge 25$ for Elite and give them back 15$ in EVGA bucks.
Make some money and get them to spend more here.

Another thing is the criteria, 100 post counts or if you bought something in the last 12 months, with the dirth of cards out there, it’s an unreasonable expectation.

And secondly, I’ve been buying evga for over 15 years, I have products registered from back then, thousands of dollars worth, and still have to go through this. Poor on evga for loyalty.

I'm in the same boat, dozens of EVGA cards that aren't the "qualified" list over the years, thus here I am trying to get 100 quality posts just so I can have a small shot at getting an upgrade for my 680ti.

*DEARTH* ....

*sigh* spell check has never been easier.

At any rate....They should have made it 5000 posts or a qualified purchase.
100 posts is a joke for 'elite'.

Seems pretty easy to construct a bot to just spam the forums. Even rate limiting doesn't present much of an obstacle. The 100 post requirement wouldn't go far to stop scalpers.

Is it necessary to be so snobby to spellcheck a quote within a quote? Also what makes 5000 a better number? Because it's harder to achieve but also conveniently a post count you've surpassed? Any number EVGA would have chosen would be arbitrary, and a post count that doesn't seem daunting to you may seem daunting to someone else. Everyone that's been on here "forever" is so elitist. Fitting.

Also for the love of all GPUs, please turn off your subscription emails to things you don't care about! Yikes.

Well said. Apparently, EVGA wanted to make the forums a bit more "active" and expand the community. Sure, there are bots, but also people that started using these forums as a means to get Elite. And they got helped, informed etc. on the way, as well as contributed equally enough to the community. It's not the end of the world...

Sorry that you feel this way, but this is one of the few ways of having a chance at getting these cards at MSRP and also maybe get some discounts on other products. Of course, people will flock to the forums and post random crap.

Re: Why did EVGA introduce post count into Elite membership? 2021/06/07 16:17:39 (permalink)
I think they are mainly trying to combat bots when the 3070 ti/3080 ti launch. While it may be easy to make a ton of EVGA accounts and bot the queue, almost no scalpers will go through the hassle of making 100 posts on the EVGA forums just to make a quick buck It's deterrence for the botters but those that really want it will have a better chance at a card.

Yup. I'm an example. Been an evga customer for like 20 years. Signed up to the forums like 13 years ago but stayed mostly a lurker until I started using Gigabyte cards instead and left. Now the elite thing got me back and I'm actually posting instead of staying a lurker.  I'm sure there are many like me.

Exactly! The 100 posts mark makes you explore the forums and you end up learning new stuff (e.g. early access to new products for elite members!)

The Kingpin queue is Elite Member only and people who order December 21 are still waiting for a Kingpin. So what was the need to expand Elite Membership when they know they won't have enough cards?

Why should people have to buy a whole bunch of crap they don't want/need just to get the component they want?

I'm not saying EVGA's product is crap.  It isn't.

But I've built an AMD Ryzen 5000 rig in a VERY large form-factor case, using a water cooling system larger than anything EVGA has on the market.  I built it to MY spec.

And luckily I had a 2060 in my previous system to carry over.

The point of their program is to get product into the hands of regular people.

Sure, maybe if you're buying an entire plethora of EVGA products, you should get more "bites" at the prize.

But excluding someone from becoming a customer because they aren't ALREADY a customer?

DUMB.

I disagree, many people doing  the 100 post become Elite status didnt bother researching any existing threads, they just repeatedly ask the same questions over and over again looking for answers that already existed in the forums in other threads...The only  thing it accomplished is bury good threads with garbage post.

I've definitely come across more varied boards due to this requirement than I normally would have. So more engagement is my guess.

I haven't exactly been a big EVGA Customer just because when I entered the PC community during the Pascal era I saw EVGA as the amazing value quality, but right during the GPU shortages of 2017 where I couldn't splash out. I was able to gladly pick up an EVGA PSU but that was it for my EVGA Purchases.

The sky is my only limit!

I appreciate the opportunity considering none of the evga products I've bought were on the list to get elite status. I haven't been able to find a GPU in 1.5 years for below 2x MSRP.

Yeah but why can’t I just pay for elite this feels so absurd to be doing. Also how do I track how many posts I’ve made?
