Short version:
200mm limit on new chassis makes it hard to get 1000W+ models, any options? I'm setting max budget at $300, Gold would be the minimum.
Long version:
I recently bought a Thermaltake Core P5 open frame chassis, probably the first time in over a decade I bought a new chassis (because boxes are cliche) and I discovered the EVGA 500W Bronze I have had for two years has short cables, can't reach CPU power. While I could get an extension cable, I never overclocked my system before and just got an EK liquid kit and want to plan ahead for even the next several systems instead of just getting good enough for now. I'd rather get a new one in the 1000W + category.
On newegg, EVGA happens to have the best rated 1200W, 1300W and 1600W supplies, but the 200mm limit on the chassis annoys me because EVGA power supplies are almost 9 damn inches. I tried looking up build videos on YouTube to see what psu they used for my chassis, most are less than 1000W. I've tried looking into non-EVGA power supplies that are shorter and high wattage, they aren't the best rated. Any ideas?
