Really not liking how in nearly every thread people say to run the pump at 100%. From numerous Gamers Nexus reviews, one of the things Steve constantly recommends is reducing the pump speed of any AiO down to 90%. This is to reduce stress on the pump, thus making it last a bit longer, and reduce pump noise. I know of no review site that's better when it comes to technical information like that than GN. Coffee Lake finally launches next week, which means I'll finally be installing my CLC 280 that I purchased several months ago.
In the time that I've been waiting to actually use my cooler, everything I've seen on these forums has left me very discouraged about the prospect of using it. I knew using the Flow Control software would be required since it's necessary to use it to control the RGB lighting. I have a 1080 FTW2 that I plan on syncing the lighting on the CPU block with. Yet these forums are filled with endless problems with Flow Control. Everything from speed settings not working correctly to the RGB lighting not functioning properly.
I already HATE Precision, and wouldn't keep it running if fan curves for my FTW2 didn't require it, so I'm not exactly surprised that Flow Control is equally terrible. My hope is to use Flow Control to set the RGBs, then using the software from my motherboard to control the pump speed and fan curves. Flow Control will remain installed, but set to not run with Windows. The motherboard I plan on getting has software specifically for controlling both pumps and fans. So is there anyone here that has had success with controlling pump speed, specifically running it below 100%, and fan curves without Flow Control? If so what was your process for getting that to work and what motherboard do you have?
