Why I chose to buy an Asus, instead of an EVGA 1080

Two years ago, I bought a 970 evga....  it died.

I started the RMA process,  but then lost the box it was in, because I was in the middle of moving...  I attempted to restart the RMA process since then, a cpl times but it never went anywhere.

After the card died,  I bought another EVGA 970 (with in a week).. with hopes of running SLI once the new card got back to me... which ofcourse never happened.

So when it came to upgrading my card,  I went with asus - who I have never had a problem with RMA's with... even old RMA's

Plus,  asus has a 1080 for $500...  the cheapest evga card is almost $600...

Everyone raves about the awesomeness of EVGA warranties,  its meh...

    +1.

So, what I understand, you lost the card for while, and then tried to restart the RMA process after finding it. You said it never went anywhere.. did you submit the RMA through your products page and follow up with EVGA through the created ticket?

I mean, good luck with Asus and all. Not sure what the point of this thread truly is, but congrats on your Asus card.

I don't believe you need the box or any accessories for that matter to do a RMA on an EVGA product. There must be more to this story than that.

I didn't read it. I don't care. Join the Asus forum and share your joy with them. Later!

Edit: Ok, fine, I read it.

    1) EVGA doesn't require you to send the retail box nor any of the retail accessories when you RMA the card. EVGA doesn't require anything except for the card. I don't know why you got wrapped around the axle over that apparent issue.

    2) Regarding price of ASUS vs EVGA: I purchased my EVGA GTX 1080 directly from this website from EVGA's B-stock and it arrived to my door in brand new condition for considerably less than $500.

I am pretty sure the OP is saying that the card was in the box, and misplaced before shipping to RMA. I doubt the OP returns, because I feel like this was just clickbait posting at this point.

Yea I kind of got that after reading your post, but didn't see yours as I was creating mine.

Also if card was 2 yrs old with a 3yr warranty then OP could still perform RMA, unless of course they totally lost the card then there's absolutely no reason to jab EVGA for it.

OP admitted to losing it once, so it wouldn't surprise me at all, lol.  "EVGA wouldn't warranty the card I can't find... never buying from them again!!!!"

Based on the information I can find for your account, the card should still be under warranty, and we can assist with a replacement if you would like. I don't see any e-mail correspondence since 2015, so unfortunately if e-mails have been sent since then we did not receive them.

That OP was probably confused about needing the original box.

Buying B-Stock not the same, it's a used product, has a shorter warranty and no free game with it.

Email Support@evga.com. Evga already said that they don’t show any more tickets or emails from you, so there must have been an error that didn’t let the ticket go through. There is about 5 different ways to contact them, don’t stop at 1, or you just limit yourself.

5 ways: Use the support email above, set up a support ticket through my products, submit an RMA through the rma feature, call (look for the most appropriate number under the support/contact us tab at the top of the website), or post on the forums requesting help.

You are guaranteed to get help if you use your resources :-)

Use the suggestion in post number 12. If that doesn't work contact myself or another mod for help in contacting EVGA.

By the way I bought an ASUS motherboard this year and it failed within a month. I now have an MSI motherboard for my RYZEN processor.

Good thing we fan boys are here to protect EVGA and put the OP in his place.  That was a close call what with him mentioning a different brand and all.

You should see what happens on Corsair forums, if you dare mention a competitors product. They will delete it and threaten you with a ban.

On evga forums some fanboys will attack you for daring to compare evga products with a competitors.  I've had it happen number of times for comparing evga mobo with top 4 mfg offerings.

Ole sparky got scared off by the fanboys lol.

I think he was full of it, he could of gotten a RMA with one phone call. It call BS on this complaint.
I mentioned I have 5 Asus x79 WS and a X79 Sabertooth as well as my Asus x58 bords, as well as my  all EVGA boards.
No one ever said anything to me one way or the other, or do not mention "Them"
I know who has the better cust. service. Hint, not Asus.
But to come here and give a BS reason why he bought an Asus, because of a RMA issue, that really is not an issue.....BS

No reason for him to get scared of the fanboys. Really I think most of them wanted to help with the RMA and show EVGA is a great brand and from what the EVGA tech posted he could still process an RMA if he wanted and EVGA was willing to help. If he was trying to troll EVGA he really failed and ended up showing how EVGA looks after the customer.

I have bought Asus products before and am running 2 computers with motherboards and that the support was very bad.
Those are X58 motherboard and are upgrading to X99 EVGA.
I bought a X99 Classified and not knowing that the cabling was different from one power supply to an other I killed it.
It cost me the postage to get a new one.
I killed an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard, 3 hard drives and a EVGA 1050 video card the same way.
It cost me the postage to get a new video card.
And I told EVGA that it was my fault and not there product and they did it anyway.
So I am a huge fanboy because no other company that I have dealt with has treated me so well!!!!!

Hmmmm I chose ASUS this time around because their 1080ti OC likes crazy out of the box and matches my Strix mobo.
Plus it’s good to give everyone a try, otherwise you become a bit fanboyish.

So far for GPUs I’ve used Asus, EVGA, and XFX.
So far all great ( all my EVGA products die but their support is great).

I just bought a zotac 1050ti... it’s seriously tiny... look at it snuggled up in there... I needed tiny just to drive 2 monitors so that when enabling SLI it didn’t disable my side monitors.
