SunnyBeachAfter upgrading to w11 I let MSI set the clock for performance. Ran Cinebench and just thermal throttled for the 30 min run. Clearly its more stable than it was in W10 for me. Now I just need to replace either my Fractal Torrent or processor. Its clear anything above base clock in a i9-12900k will need water cooling. I should have preordered one of the lain li 011 evo cases.
zippytekNeat ILM hack to reduce temps a bit: https://www.igorslab.de/en/alder-lakes-cooling-problem-bend-again-around-5c-ilm-mod-for-intel-lga1700-socket/ and a link to some 1mm m4 washers if anyone wants to give it a shot: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07MX9CWJT
rjbarkerThis bad boy goes in soon ;)Check out the size of it....I have medium sized hands...must weigh close to 2 lbs.*snip*

Yeah compared to Velocity and Supremacy its massive...will be interesting to see how the new mounting mechanism goes from the back-side of the Board. One thing I like with that Optimus Block is the wide spacing between in / out ports.....lost of room for fittings....looks like it will be tight on the Velocity 2 for my Bits Power rotaries.Anyone know if Optimus ships to Canada?
ltfubarJust got my son a 12700K, and a new MB, had gotten him a 3060 TI for Christmas but his 6th gen i5 was not cutting it. so went from $600 to $1600 real quick.
SunnyBeachHa, my kids are grown so upgrading my pc these days is way cheaper. Then again maybe my single pc upgrade was more than building three pc's 6 years ago. Just know your son will enjoy the extra speed and bling a new pc brings. I sure miss being able to do that for my kids. Both make their own way now and have systems that fit what they need. Lets hope mining crypto fades away in the coming years. The idea that a top end card cost more than a full system did a few years ago is crazy.

My Son who is a PC gamer like his old man, and my daughter who uses a 10 inch MacBook...(not sure where I went wrong with this one.) This weekend I will be upgrading his PC and is the first time he has expressed any interest in the hardware. I hope it might be the start something good. I have been hip deep in hardware since 1991 and would love to pass the torch. One can dream-

NereusThanks for that. A little disturbing that the CPU is not flat (or at least does not stay flat over time).

Looking good rj, 6000MHz CR1 @1.43v timings are one hour Karu stable, on the 4800 Dell bars. 6200MHz CR1 profile is also one hour Karu stable @1.43v,.. 6400MHz CR1 CL36 will boot Windows @1.43v but not stable, going to need to enable high memory voltage to get above 6200MHz with the Dell bars.
