Well the Titan X(P) plexi/nickel blocks were unavoidable (need those naow! haha), but a back plate I think I can hold off on.....maybe

I'm impatient.

@Scarlet-Tech,

I agree with you.  I will just ignore the Titan name on the backplate.  If EVGA comes out with a cool plate for it, maybe I will switch.  I don't want to look at a bare PCB.  I went ahead and order the acetal/nickel plate with black backplate.  Not running colors through my loop so I figured black would be best.

I was planning to go with the Hydro Copper card this go round.  What is the difference between the Hydro Copper card and Reference card with water block, other than the Hydro comes with the water block already mounted?

Thanks

Wait time.. blocks are ready now from 3rd party manufacturers. You have to install them, or have someone else install them for you.

The hydrocopper blocks are generally thicker, and the inlet/outlet terminal is much thicker and wider.

So no difference in performance, correct?  So, I can buy the FE version now and just install the block myself without the wait time, correct?

Thanks

Maybe 2 or 3 degrees.. waterblocks are awesome these days, and there is a massive variety to choose from.

Sorry, I wasn't quite clear.  I meant there's no performance difference between the Hyrdo Copper and a FE watercooled card.

I guess I will get in line with the rest of the crew for a FE card.

The hydrcopper will be overclocked out of the box, but you can easily overclock the card yourself and make up for it.. then you dont have to wait 2 months for the Hydrocopper to hit the market :-)

Have my block and backplate on order. Performance pc's have a backorder on the backplates, however they sent me an email stating they will be getting their next shipment in this coming Monday. Ordered my stuff on the 9th to make sure I get a block. Went with the Acetal copper EK block. I wonder how far these 1080TI's will boost on their own with no thermal limit to affect them.

Probably Hydro Copper, I don't mind waiting as I am in the process of closing on a house, so funds are presently tied up.

However, if the hydro copper is not released or is just god ugly, I might go the FE + EK waterblock route

12700K - EK Monoblock
Asus Maximus Z690 Hero
G.SKILL Trident Z5 32gb DDR5 6400
4090 FE - EK Wb
Intel 960gb 905p
Intel 512gb 670p
Solidigm P41 Plus Series 1TB
Seasonic PRIME 1300W (cable mod 12vhpwr)
Enthoo 719 - Custom Loop
 > Barrow Daridp-30 360 (DDC Pump Rad combo)
 > Swiftech 360 Rad
 > XSPC Crossflow 360 Rad
 > EK 360 FLT DDC Res Pump combo
 > Swiftech Helix Fans Push-Pull
 > Swiftech Hydrx coolant (custom mixed heavy)

Hydro isnt ugly. Imthe 700 series hydros were plain, but functional. The 900 and 1000 series were both attractive.

+1  They are made by EK the last few years. I will definitely have a block on mine, may have to save...but YES, it will be mine!

I picked up a used EVGA 1080 Hybrid kit on CL for 30$. I'm going to install it with all original shroud and components of the 1080ti FE with only the window, HS and piece that holds the window removed. I wont even have to take apart the entire card. Just the HS, window, and piece that holds the window.

not my photo, but you get the picture with this Titan XP.

Probably just gonna sell my FE if it doesn't perform well and buy the inevitable FTW3 Hybrid that gets released.

Hope I don't have to, I kinda wanna hang that FE shroud on my wall. And if it does perform well, then I'll buy a hydro copper plate and finally take the plunge into custom loops. lol.

Gamersnexus is currently mounting on to their TI. They have part one of the custom TI hybrid on their website and youtube. Looked like the blocked lined up fine on the pcb.

So, will any titan wb fit the 1080ti fe or is it only certain titans? I just dropped over 2grand on my build and got the 1080hydrocopper 3 days before they announced the ti release!!! I dont mind using a used wb from a titan as long as it works since ill save a little money. I had already went 500 over budget on my build and the misses still won't look at me!!!! I'm having to tread lightly and saying im gonna spend another 200..... i may not be alive long after that!

For Titan block compatibility on 1080Ti check on vendor website, contact support. Some are compatible (like EK or Watercool), some are not (like Bitspower or Phanteks). I don't know about EVGA Hydrocopper vel Switfech.

I'll be going on water. Probably pick up a used hybrid kit and make it work at first while I design my custom loop.

Maybe 2 or 3 degrees.. waterblocks are awesome these days, and there is a massive variety to choose from.

I was told that my 980 hydrocopper block was made by EK.  I couldn't remember if it was evga or EK that told me that.  I ended up switching the hydrocopper block out for an EK to match my 2nd card.  There was no temp difference.
