Go Slow and Take Your Time with your First Water Build. They are Fun to Build or Assemble as some put it.
You should test out your card before you install the water block to ensure that the card is working ok.

No worries, I stepped up from the 1080 FTW 2 and have been using the card with a temporary H100i on my Ryzen 1700x for several weeks. Most of the build is in and I'm just waiting on the block to finish the loop. It's a PETG hardline build and it only took 2 bends to get it right, I used to work in a plastics CNC and Hot/Cold forming shop (Acetal, Nylon, PVC, PETG, Polycarbonite, and Acrylic) so I have plenty of experience, I have to make a few more bends and then leak test. Even made my own top plate for the 570x moved the fans and added a window with a fillport.

That is coming along quite nice. I wish I had your experience in plastics, it could be very handy. I have the pieces for a hard line conversion, was waiting for warmer weather..... I like where you put the fill port. Yeah ,make a mods rig profile and show off your handy work.

Well, big disappointment here. I ran the GTX 1080 Ti with the EK water blocks and there was a leak from what seems to be a crack at the top. Not only that but seems like water was able to travel pass the rubber seals on the main Water block. Painful... I certainly don't feel like dealing with RMAing these block back to Slovenia. Now I have two paperweights. I may try to tighten some screw around the seal, and gorilla glue the crack. The crack is tiny, btw... but enough to leak lots of water.

Arghhhhhhj!!!!!

OMG that sux, hope EK is taking care of you and nothing was ruined beyond that. how was the liquid mess?

For those of you that have gone wet I have a question about the chips to the left of the inductors/chokes.  The FE cooler has thermal pads, however, EK instructions do not have you put thermal pads on them.  Same with the other chips that have the white pads (not sure if these are thermal or just buffer pads).

Can anyone lend insight into this?

Images Removed to save space

For what it is worth I matched the FE Cooler Thermal Pads and then some.
Your White Thermal Pads are a lot nicer than that what I had.

Same, I matched the FE, put itty bitty pads on the single chips where the FE ones were, did put a strip (.5mm) on the chokes, put the EK pictured pads on the back as it shows for the Titan (reverse side of chokes and the three around the GPU)

Anyway, I have been absent from this topic for a few days because well, things did NOT go well for me.

I installed my CPU, GPU blocks and got all the tubing connected, did the 24 hour leak test and all was good. Went to do first boot and no boot, spent a day tracking that down to find out I had somehow bent a good deal of cpu socket pins  No idea how it happened.

There were no LGA1150 motherboards available that gave me what I want so I stepped up to a Z270 platform.

Removed both radiators, GPU (Blocked) CPU Block, tubes in one piece out of case (WHEW, didn't yank any tubes) installed new mobo, cpu, ram and put all the watercooling back in in one swoop (with my awesome wife's help)

Ran another 24 hour leak test to make sure that did not disturb the integrity of the loop and only Yesterday got back up.

No problems whatsoever

Will post a pic in a few minutes, just woke up and trying to fix what Microsoft broke in CU

So it's the end of the day in Slovenia once again and once again my order hasn't shipped. It is now a week past when the order should have shipped. Not to mention everyone who has received their products who ordered at the same time or after me (including someone who ordered their products 6 days after me). EKWB has responded to my queries at a snails pace.

Frankly, EKWB's customer service has been atrocious and their ability to deliver on time is horrendous. They had a chance to make a lifetime customer and instead have a customer who is very skeptical of even moving forward with this order.

I'm glad some others in here are having luck with them, but so far my experience has been terrible.

So your order was placed three days after mine. Do you mind sharing what you ordered exactly?

PhenomMasaki are you somewhere in the EU or in the USA?

Everyone you have asked has been in the US so far. His order was also exactly the same as mine. This is getting a little indefensible.

Oh and I'm in Chicago

Thank you,
My order direct from EK is still being held up in NY Customs, it has been their now for 9 Days.
This is why I asked.
My Order from PC-Performance of the standard EK Titan X (Pascal) I ordered on Monday will be here today.
So I will just send back the new EK Water Block and not bother with doing a comparison of the two Water Blocks.
To many upset members in this thread to care anymore.

I want everyone to know, in my case (I guess, pun intended) my EK 1080 ti plexi/nickle block is excellent, no concerns about that screw missing at all ( I had to, I had to :P) it's very stable and secure, running great and couldn't be happier...

If I were you dude I'd just cancel it out and order your block (s) from somewhere else - think I saw on some review sites today that Phantek has their block out for 1080 Ti. Get that one.

If you've seen the Phanteks block please let me know. I've been looking for it. One site has them listed as being released on April 25 another has them listed as being released on July 11. I'm okay with the former, but not so much the latter.

But yea, I'm going to cancel if I don't hear anything tomorrow. Very disappointing.

Ah ok, maybe it's not out yet then, just saw the review. Sorry to hear about your issue. Frustrating when you need the block now and no one can seem to get you one.

They finally got back to me today and said my order is held up because of backplates (which is total crap because others here and on other sites have been receiving their orders with the same backplates). My order is supposed to ship over the next two business days and they expect it to get here by the end of next week. I'm very disappointed, but at least there is some certainty for my order. If there was another block available right now from a decent competitor I would be all over it.

Ask nicely if they will upgrade your Shipping to UPS Urgent? Seems only fair and no real skin off their back to do it

A couple of updates....

EK is sending me GTX 1080 Ti waterblock replacement tops; I did have to pay 20 euro plus shipping. Whatever, I ordered 2 of them to have some spare tops. It took about a week of writing back and forth with EK CS at a rate of one message per day due to the time difference. Kind of a pain.

In the meantime, I had order a full GTX 1080 Ti block from Performance-PCs which shipped yesterday and I will get on Monday or Tuesday. In the end, I will just use the new block and keep the tops as replacement parts. EK still hasn't shipped the replacements although I paid yesterday. I have a feeling I'll have the block from Performance PCs way before EK. Performance PCs has been a savior.

I really recommend Performance PCs. I order an additional GTX 1080 Ti block from them and it shipped yesterday. I think they might have the backplates too.

Here is the block installed. rebuild almost done still need to install m.2 copy Windows over and working on a custom bracket for the PSU to mount on the back then a larger rad will go in the bottom. I havent decided if a 360 or a 480 should go down there.

Nice build.   I think you're good on the cooling side and should be good to go.  Not a fan of colored fluid because of the maintenance involved and the eventual breakdown after but it surely does look good.

Re: Who's going 1080Ti on water? Founder's + EK block or HydroCopper? 2017/04/23 22:24:46 (permalink)
update: I received my big EK order on the 20th, 1080ti block & backplate included, and luckily, none of my things were damaged, at least as far as I can tell and will find out soon if all is well once I complete the updated build.

I can see how the single bracket could have damaged the block when it is free floating on top of it, though it is wrapped, but not on the ends, definitely possible to slip out and bang things up.

been a fun updating project for a first timer, ran into some problems where I needed to mod my in win 805 infinity case to make things fit...managed to get a 360 40mm rad in there mounted with gentle typhoon's, just cooling CPU/GPU.
although my entire project came to a halt because...............THE SILICONE INSERT TO BEND TUBES! One came with the XSPC kit that claims it would fit 12mm tubes and it definitely did not, just missed it, can't find anything locally, had to order something online and that pretty much ruined the entire weekend. different companies, different strokes, now I know, keep everything the same.

companies should just include that thing when anyone places a big order regarding hard tubing/fittings, they're dirt cheap, and, you know, you KIND OF NEED THEM.

that said, I got most of my fittings placed and the tubing mapped out to how I want it, so, I hope it all works out when I get the correct silicone insert, ugh.

Re: Who's going 1080Ti on water? Founder's + EK block or HydroCopper? 2017/04/24 03:43:35 (permalink)

update: I received my big EK order on the 20th, 1080ti block & backplate included, and luckily, none of my things were damaged, at least as far as I can tell and will find out soon if all is well once I complete the updated build.

Can you include some photos? Also, a photo of the insert you are referring to?

There are kits that include all the right materials.  For example, a monsoon kit includes all of that.  I would stick with the same hard tubing and fittings from said company too.

Pretty happy with my EVGA 1080 Ti FE on EKWB titan block. Temps are never a problem, only chip limitations!

Might clean up the tubing but then again it's performing well and I kind of enjoy the messy look at the moment.
