I wanted to go wide screen with my GTX 1080 FTW2 but the premium options are just too much $$. So, I opted for a AOC 35" AG352UCG (was $799 at Microcenter). Beyond, it's faults (black crush, uneven lighting, banding etc.) and strengths (good color, blacks, contrast) it's been good but not good enough to keep. I RMA'd it today for a couple of reasons. It has flicker issues with the g-sync on. I have tried DP, HDMI, different refresh rates, resolutions, a GTX 980 etc. all with no luck. I have the driver for the LCD installed with AOC's color profile set to default and in the NCP it's set to RGB, full output dynamic range, 8bpc (not dithered), 32bit color etc. Others have said Nvidia fixed this with a driver. But, I tried all the ones (and the beta) from July. Some games, once started, turn the LCD on/off until I cycle back though the connections menu and then it will hold. The other reason is the banding on gray colors (pic attached). It was taken from my cell so it may not come through as clear. But, there is a thick white horizontal stripe and the same vertically (like a cross hair, lol) that makes 1/3 of the screen look darker than the rest (very noticeable in games or I wouldn't care that much); thoughts? Long story short; if I were to stay away from G-sync (for now until it matures and due to cost) what non G-sync 3440x1440 100hz LCD (or closest) would you guys recommend?

I guess I'll have to answer myself based on what I think the consensus would be and that's "no, and good luck". Fine, thanks all!

What about LG's new 34 ultrawide 144hz monitor?
I was thinking about buying this one as well when I upgrade my current setup.

Someone answered! I'm so happy, lol. I will probably look into a LG 34" and not worry about the G-sync. My FTW2 doesn't really need it. I hate to send back the one I have now as it's almost good enough to keep. The banding was the last straw though. Thanks for the reply.

I am partial to something in the 27" 1440p variety with a high refresh rate. Dell makes a Gsync model in that flavor, but it's had its share of banding and flicker issues. Currently, mine has been behaving ok.

There's just nothing else out there unless I went with a more expensive panel IMO. They have 34" panels at 1080p but that must be like looking through a screen door. I was intrigued by the HP Omen 32" at 75hz but you can only hit 75 with Freesync. It skips frames on Nvidia cards. I have actually asked to try another AOC monitor but it may be too late. If so, I'll just wait for better offerings, or a sale, down the road.
