I'm looking to replace my 1070 GPU to a 4080. For my 1070, I only needed one PCIE cable connected to my power supply (Evga 850 G2). The 4080 I received has an adapter with 3 total plugs (sorry if my terminology is incorrect, this is all new to me!). I've got the one I'm currently using but it seems like I need to purchase 2 more.
 
Would this one be the correct cable to purchase 2 of? https:// www. evga . com / products/product.aspx?pn=W001-00-000147 (added spaces in case the link gets blocked)
 
I checked compatibility and 850 G2 isn't specifically listed, but under the Overview tab, it seems like it would fall under there. 

This was a desktop I purchased from one of those auction type places where companies get rid of their tech, so I didn't receive any extra cables aside from what was used :(

EVGA PCIe 8pin (6+2) Cable (Single) P/N: W001-00-000147 is indeed correct.

I did contact Evga support, hopefully they respond! I wasn't able to create a support ticket as I don't have the serial number, so I emailed  webmaster@evga.com

A source of information would sure be reassuring.
 
I'm not saying you are wrong, but there have been instances where documentation wasn't absolutely clear, assumptions were made about missing one single piece of information with all other things being the same, and then EVGA came in and said that actually they switched manufactures at one point and they aren't compatible even with the same model number >but different part number).  A source of information specifically saying one part number is compatible with another part number would be reassuring.

You can find the source above. But this has been standard for all previous cable questions in this section for the last few years.
If it's the same exact model line (G2 for example), between it's different capacities it is always the same pinout, nothing changes except the capacity of units.
Pretty sure this was also reinforced by officials (as i don't tend to make things up), but don't ask me to search in past posts for it. Years of observation on posts and their resolutions including officials confirming compatibilities leads to this conclusion.
You can also cross reference CableMod for this, which has been always accurate and matches up with reality.
I don't know of any model line exempt from this, but i don't completely exclude the possibility from something older than the G2 line.

Thanks for confirming! And thanks everyone else for the extra input. Unfortunately that cable is now out of stock so I'll have to look elsewhere :(
