I'm new to building PC's, and just built my first. That being said where is the best place to start to learn how to tune up the PC and learn more about how to overclock?

This is my specs for my first build.

  • Asus PRIME Z490-A
  • Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLZ 75 CFM

I'd recommend watching some YouTube videos from channels like LinuTechTips, JayzTwoCents, GamersNexus, etc to get your feet wet with tinkering with your new PC.

You could try some slight overclocking with the help of auto OC. But I personally wouldn't recommend it in the current state of your build as it is very unlikely that even a stock 10850k will hold back a gtx 1080, so you don't really gain anything other than higher temperatures.

Adding to the previous posts, I think it's important to remember that others' results posted online will differ from your own, and that their results should be used more as a guideline. No single chip is exactly the same!

Make sure you have some general knowledge before you start making numbers bigger just because "bigger is better". Wouldn't want to damage your hard-to-replace components!

set the vcore manually on 1.25 and try all cores 4,9 ghz check for stability with some program like aida64 or realbench
and if you are stable try 5ghz,
dont forget to set manually the vccio bellow to 1.2 volts
and do the same for vccsa.

The r/overclocking community has always been good to newbies in my experience. I'd watch a video like others have stated, but when you inevitably hit your first hiccup, that's a great place to go for assistance.

There a stigma around overclocking that it will brick your stuff, and while you definitely can, if you keep your voltages in check you should be fine. So don't be afraid to tinker with your hardware. It's actually pretty fun.

Agree, I love this channel. Just finished watching a game tip (FF7R Intergrade) and it was on point.

Always thought there was a huge risk to overclocking but it seems like as long as your knowledgeable its some easy extra performance.
