Hello. I just bought a DG-86 case. I haven't been in the computer game in like 10 years and I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out where to mount my Blu-ray/CD-ROM drive on this case... help! I have been staring at it for twenty minutes and absolutely cannot see where it would go!! Thanks in advance.

Return the case. Does not have a spot. Have to be careful today with what case you buy because companies are not putting them in all of their cases. This is why my 900D will probably be the last case I ever buy. At least until a huge I/O advancement and it can't be swapped out. Honestly EVGA has lost sales on that case because of the lack of spots for drive bays. I personally use two because I also have an SD card reader with four USB 3.0 ports as well as my BD drive.

That's ridiculous. That doesn't even make sense. Every computer needs a CD-ROM drive... my windows is on a disc. Guess I'll have to go external?

That is an option. Not sure what's out there for portable USB Blu Ray drives if anything. Also Win 10 I don't think is on disc anymore. Can also make an ISO USB installer for Windows 7. I own one because I like to watch Blu Rays and not stream sub par quality.
There is actually a thread farther down now hidden probably by the 30 day window. Expand it to 90 days or whatever can probably find it. Several people including my self annoyed at EVGA for this.

You only need a usb port to install an OS. Just download and run the windows media creation tool. I for one have no need for 5.25" bays anymore.

Optical Disks have gone the way of the Dodo. And if you already have a large disk collection and haven't already done a disk to data conversion you will need additional external hardware to use this case. Myself I keep a slimline drive on my basement server for any disks rips that I need to complete. The Windows 10 media creator will write directly to a USB for you, and conversion from DVD to USB for Windows 7+ has been as easy as drag/drop files from DVD to USB. As for additional USB ports, or SD,CF, etc a lot monitors includes these now as well.

disc drives are getting old, but it might still be useful to have an external disc drive for the rare times it's needed. Ideally I'd like to find a good external Disc drive that supports SD cards and the like as well, for the times when it's needed. but yeah, there are more uses for a 5.25" bay that just disc drives, fan controllers and internal SD card readers use that as well (and i think even some supplimentory PSUs do as well)

I still use an DVD drive as well. My new case does not have a 5.25 drive, so I bought a usb dvd burner for my media. Windows 10 you can create an iso for usb or you have an option to create one to burn it to DVD. I paid $19 for my usb DVD burner at bestbuy.

I think it's wrong to let the DVD or Blu Ray-Drive out ot the concept (of a rig), if it's not a minimalistic setup. Since years I rip my CD's for my iTunes-Collection and sometimes watch blu ray's with my computer... P.S. My Windows is on a DVD too.

If you are really need a drive, then i would go with an external one. Lots of new cases don't offer a slot for an internal drive, because rarely anyone needs an optical drive and it can look pretty ugly in your front.

Also need them for Pump and Fan Controllers as well as a Blu-Ray Drive for Image Back Boot and Other as stated above. I shop for what I need and compare 3 or 4 different cases till I find the one I like that has all the features that I need and like. Now one of the best Computer Cases out their for Custom Water Loops and Lots of Room is the Thermaltake CORE W100 Extreme Water Cooling XL-ATX Fully Modular Full Tower Computer CaseI love this Case. I paid 289.99 for two of them before they went over $300 For even Harder Hard Core Water Cooling I use this Bad Boy. This one is still listed for $460 Thermaltake CORE W200 Dual System Capable Extreme Cooling XL-ATX Computer Case CA-1F5-00F1WN-00

Some nice cases there Bcav... The W100 I really like even though I don't do any water cooling (just AIO) just because of how roomy it is. I prefer lots of space to work and grow if the need arises...

I hope you purchased it from a retailer that offers free returns, if not your only option is to use external optical drive or buy a different case.

You know, I was looking at the case after reading the OP's question and really he could install the drive to the top of the case probably, since that should be a big enough void with no fans up there, and he could mod the front or back plastic to just spit out the tray. He could even mod the touch button to open it to another part of the case if he feels confident enough to do it, if windows open/close isn't enough for him. Of course, without the case sitting right in front of me to do all the measurements and play with im just using my insanity and winging it on a suggestion, but sometimes that what this stuff requires, lol.

You did not review the Specs and Read Reviews before you put out the money for a new Computer Case?
To be fair, the specs say nothing about not having a 5.25" drive bay. And also to be fair, it's a full ATX case. I understand cooling fans galore, but its a full ATX case, not a mini or micro ATX.

I still use my DVD drive from time to time. I haven't upgraded my case in a while but would want to have a disc drive. A lot of what I do is play classic games and while Steam sales are a great way to play old games I still would want to load up some games off a disc.

There are no 5,25" storage listed at all for any model in the section storage support. http://www.evga.com/artic.s/01018/evga-dg-8-cases/This has been very clear from day one and why I choosed this case.
Lazy or not Lazy. That's not a question.

OK. Lets be fair, the specs do not say they have any 5.25 Drive Bay. Link to another Case Specs Listed under "Drive Bays" Another one Link Listed under TECHNICAL DATA. Picture is worth a 1000 Words they say. Do you See Any Drive Bays? I pre-ordered one myself and after reviewing the Specs and Watching EVGA Videos I noted What No 5 1/4 Drive Bays. So I had to cancel my order because it did not have any....

I think they lost a decent amount of sales because of it to. I would have loved to own one because I have my case displayed sideways on my desk. If you look in my ModsRigs it would have been perfect. They could have put it on the bottom for all it matters. Looks to be space there so it would not interfere with radiators on the top.

bcavnaugh I'm not trying to piss in your Wheaties, you correct that the specs doesn't list it, but a 5.25" drive bay has been standard on PC cases since the dawn of 5.25" drives. To not include it in a case configuration I feel that it should specifically state on the specifications page that one is not included to avoid customer confusion. Simply omitting it without clarification causes issues as users have reported. And I'll happily admit the only reason I ever purchased a Blu-Ray writer in the first place was to install Windows. I hardly ever watch movies, I download 99% of what I install, sure it's nice for backups but reasonably there really is no need for one.

More and more case manufacturers are dropping the 5.25 inch bays. My 780T has one and I use it because I have old DVD games I can only install from DVD. Options suggested above are good ones. When the time comes I'll get a USB DVD drive should that be required.

I think sales of EVGA DG-8* case are way down, earlier this year they offered free EVGA 650W power supply, if you purchased the case from newegg. I think evga need to hire better case designer, ones that can make a modular design work and get rid of all the branding all over the case. People don't want to be a damn billboard. Let the build quality of the case do the talking.
