Jacob said it was coming, but nothing concrete at the moment. I'm guessing they're running into the same problem Steve did.

At least we now have a 3D printed option to cover it up. Seems to be working well with a few people. I'll look into it myself when my card comes in next week. Wonder what white would look like....

So now the MOB doesn't like the red and the world has ended because of the red.... People really need to start thinking for themselves instead of thinking what they are told to think.

It seems your sentiment could be chalked up to the "MOB mentality" as well. For me personally, usually I wouldn't have cared because I always had a metal box and couldn't see anything inside the case anyway. For my new build I wanted to go high end and make it something beautiful to look at on my desk as well because I am at a point in my life that I can do such things. The red "lips" just don't fit the look but since I am going to put it under water anyway it is a moot point for me. I don't understand how one could have the argument that it is "idiotic to worry about a cosmetic thing" when a huge part of the enthusiast world is building beautiful themed systems.

Some of us are more worried about performance than looks. ;) And no, I can't see the red at all once the GPU is in the case and running. But wouldn't matter to me either way since I have a red/black theme. But I don't go nuts with LEDS. And I am more worried about a case with good airflow than one without it. (Reason why I am still running my CM Master Case 5 Pro) Still one of the best cases for airflow (Including the new ones), but they don't make it anymore, I have no intention of replacing it either.

If only I lived in Germany I would trade with you in a heartbeat. I have a very open case and the red is an eye sore for me. No offense to evga, but I only got the FTW3 ultra because it was the only model I was able to purchase during the rush. Overall, it's a great performing card, probably the best and from the side, it's not that ugly, but the red "lip" annoys me as it is very visible and not going well with the rest of my aesthetics. EVGA, please release a black trim for purchase. Thank you.

Email redtrim@evga.com with your serial number (Must be registered!) and the desired color you want. They will respond adding to a list to have it shipped with its ready. NO ETA..

Just want to bump this really quick; EVGA sent me the black shroud(free) pretty quickly (3days?) with instructions on how to swap it. So for those that plan to keep it air cooled and dont like the red accents, toss an email to redtrim@evga.com for a free replacement.

The cards with the red trim a lot slower and performance is quite lackluster compared to the revised black trim version.
I'm sure you all know this already.. Pretty much a given.
Ok, but seriously.. I found it funny how upset people were getting over the red trim on the FTW cards. I mean, some people were even saying that if it wasn't changed they would never buy into a EVGA product ever again.
Over a red trim piece. Seriously?! Oh well. To each their own I guess. I really didn't mind the red trim myself..

Thanks! I just sent an email. And to answer those that question why people care......have you been building PCs for long? Tons of people care about aesethetics. It's a big part of personalizing your system. Mine happens to sit eye level a few feet to my right and the red on the end sticks out badly. I still have no clue why they made those accents red in the first place when they put so much effort in the customizable LED bar and logo.

People build PC's for different reasons or multiple reasons. Some like to build cosmetic builds. Same thing can go for cars or homes etc. Why ever worry about cosmetics or aesthetics in anything you do? A car doesn't perform better being yellow, or a house doesn't hold your family or things better with a lawn or flower garden. It is just strange that someone would think of another as idiotic for having a preference. Short sightedness like this is far more idiotic then having a color preference.

I agree colors do matter. When buying a car I look for a color I can live with and like and when I bought my house it was brown and probably the same color since it was built then I had it painted blue to make it more modern. Definitely updated the looks a lot.
