When does 90 day clock start for backordered cards?

Hi all,
 
I ordered a FTW3 3080 from Adorama on the 18th.  The item is backordered and I'm fairly certain I'm near the end of their line for fulfillment.  My question is about when the step-up timer would start?  Is it after my order actually ships or from the original purchase date of the 18th?  Part of my worry is that I won't be able to register the card within the time frame to be eligible for the step-up program (in the event I decided to get a 3090) since I might not receive my 3080 until late October or even in to November.

    Why are you wanting to upgrade from a 3080 to a 3090?  Apparently for gaming there is only a 10-15% increase in power and you also may need more then a 750w PSU.

    Have you already paid for the card? If you have, it starts from the purchase date of your payment.
